How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

John

did you get my mail?

Fundamentalist - 03 Jun 2005 17:31 - 3151 of 10502

Nadal breaks federer in the first game

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 17:46 - 3152 of 10502

Steve,

Should be OK for tomorrow thanks. Will let you know in an hour or so.

I haven't got the Federer/Nadal game as an option on AB Pro. Is it just me? Can someone check please??????????????

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 17:50 - 3153 of 10502

It would appear to be only available via the main Betfair screen, not via the All Markets on the left which seems to have thrown AB Pro a problem. Not seen that before.

Makes trading it a problem.

Craig 1.63 favourite to stay in Big Brother house tonight but his odds to finish top male or win seem way out of sync if he does stay.

Pity its so illiquid.

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 19:25 - 3155 of 10502

Mens singles now appeared on AB Pro.

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 19:48 - 3156 of 10502

Federer v Nadal presenting some great trading opportunities.

bakko - 03 Jun 2005 19:56 - 3157 of 10502

Evening Guys,

Just got in and logged into the tennis. 2-1 to Nadal with Fed a break up in the 4th set. Looks like going the full course.

Just nicked a few ticks on Fed.

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 19:58 - 3158 of 10502

Should prove fruitful bak.

bakko - 03 Jun 2005 20:00 - 3159 of 10502

Only made 2 trades and showing good profit on Fed line.
John, Hope you've been milking the trades too

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:02 - 3160 of 10502

Oops, that hurt.

bakko - 03 Jun 2005 20:04 - 3161 of 10502

John, Just a blip. Fed will break back

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:07 - 3162 of 10502

Not too sure on that bak. Unless Nadal is busting a gut and is gonna weaken, he seems to be slowly getting the upper hand.

bakko - 03 Jun 2005 20:10 - 3163 of 10502

He does seem pretty useful

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:12 - 3164 of 10502

Looks like it could be over.

bakko - 03 Jun 2005 20:12 - 3165 of 10502

Yep, I agree.

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:13 - 3166 of 10502

Was just getting warmed up too. (me that is)

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:15 - 3167 of 10502

Lay lay lay. 1.06

Fundamentalist - 03 Jun 2005 20:15 - 3168 of 10502

Evening all

just got back in having missed most of the match - looks like the better player on the day won - at least might get slightly better prices on federer at wimbledon now :-)

Harlosh - 03 Jun 2005 20:16 - 3169 of 10502

Ah well, Nadal won pretty easily in the end. At last a serious contender to Federer I think.
