THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Problem I'm having at mo is trying not to over trade. There are so many stocks as reported on boards that are breaking out. Discipline is key, so to stop temptation especially on open spread bets, got five on the go opened a seperate stockwatch with just those five I'm concentrating on. Theory being less chance of being distracted. Easier to add on any dips, or take profits.

I spoke to my friend MARY BEARD about free nhs treatment
and that it only free for migrants coming to the uk
if our children want to work in the EU they had to buy insurance
so could not afford to work in the EU .
she was the nice person who was on question time
a historian

she thought it was free if we went to spain she as been asking questions in gov
about this issue

goldfinger - 22 Oct 2013 08:46 - 31556 of 81564

Chris, yes I may have fallen into that trap. Most are blue but if we get some bad news.

cynic - 22 Oct 2013 08:49 - 31557 of 81564

so what's this EHIC card then that one should always have when travelling in Europe?
that would appear to give you cover throughout EU

i'm sure one is entitled to it of one has (say) made contributions through the PAYE system etc, but it may be even simpler than that

Chris Carson - 22 Oct 2013 08:49 - 31558 of 81564

Exactly gf sooo easy to get carried away in a bull market.

goldfinger - 22 Oct 2013 08:50 - 31559 of 81564

The TRUE cost of health tourism: Foreigners using NHS cost Britain up to £2BILLION a year, government report reveals... 100 times more than thought
Previous figures estimated £20m to £200m of NHS funds went on tourists
But the first comprehensive report of health tourism far exceeds that figure and warns Britain has 'some of most generous rules in the world'
It estimates £388m goes on foreign patients wrongly given free treatment
A further £300m is used by tourists who travel to take advantage of NHS
Home Office plans £150 levy on foreign students and £200 on migrants

cynic it should be that simple but the SPANISH doctors want the cash
go to your hotel phone the doctor tell him you have the card he will say
cash or will not come FACT

cynic - 22 Oct 2013 09:08 - 31561 of 81564

spain never surprises me
try taking a spanish company to court and see what happens
they allegedly fall under european law etc, but hahahaha!

Royal Mail had a good run. Time approaching for a short-term reversal

MaxK - 22 Oct 2013 09:20 - 31563 of 81564

Local Spanish doctors and hospitals HAVE to charge you direct or they will go broke.

In theory they can make an application for payment via the €uropean health card system, and blighty may well pay up, but the money goes via Madrid and is not passed on.

That's why the local hospitals/docs etc wont accept the so called reciprical payment scheme...it would be literally pissing the money away.

cynic - 22 Oct 2013 09:25 - 31564 of 81564

fortunately i have never had to try the system out anywhere, except Beloved may have used it once in France

Health tourism debate on Radio 5 Live now.

hilary - 22 Oct 2013 09:51 - 31566 of 81564

Cyners,

You should always carry an EHIC card around Europe, even if you have insurance.

They are intended for emergency healthcare. If you're laying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road or you're in the middle of a heart attack, you don't really want to be ringing your insurance company and waiting for them to sort you out with an ambulance.

Edit. The entitlement under the EHIC varies from country to country within the EU. You may find that, in some EU countries, you do need to pay for treatment, even with an EHIC. But, if the treatment you receive would normally be free within the UK, I think you can probably claim the costs back from the NHS when you get home. The best bet though imo is to carry private insurance and use the EHIC to get through the hospital door and use your private insurance to sort out the bill at the end of your stay.

TANKER - 22 Oct 2013 10:07 - 31567 of 81564

Hilary spot on .

MaxK - 22 Oct 2013 10:29 - 31568 of 81564

Or simply arrange to have your illness in the UK, then you wont have to worry about making any payment.

TANKER - 22 Oct 2013 10:33 - 31569 of 81564

benefit fraud treating non tax payers on nhs costs the uk over 7 billion ever year
tax avoiding costs the uk over 3.4 billion ever year
that's a lot of money
so why is nothing done about these crimes
its enough to build a nuclear plant ever 2 years
if I was to try to claim benefits I would have to prove
who I am what I have in the bank .
were I have lived for the last 20 years
were I have worked
so how do these people running the dhss not do their job
ever one should be made to go in person not on line

TANKER - 22 Oct 2013 10:36 - 31571 of 81564

ever one should be made to report to the job centre ever day
and clock on with their card and have a camera to video them
then it would only take one person to view the clock on

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2192694/Nigerian-woman-needing-Caesarean-immediately-flies-Britain-operation--costing-UK-taxpayers-10-000.htm
she should never been allowed to fly the airline should be sued for the cash
that would stop it
