OD:Women giving you hassle today? You try and help them and what do you get? Ingratitude and mystification! But, thanks to your clarification, the fog is slowly clearing. I think. I honestly don't need another hard drive. Still 16.78 GB free space on this one, thanks! I think the problem must be some sort of irreconcilable conflict. Computer is female and Adaptec is half alien! Well, it's alien to MY computer anyway.

jeffmack - 04 Feb 2003 17:00 - 321 of 23498

Vasey

That salesman had no right to sell a PC to a woman. If there are three certanties in life its

Women do not know anything about computers
Woman have no sense of direction
You will die (edit: but not for a very long time)

vasey - 04 Feb 2003 17:07 - 322 of 23498

Sorry, meant to say, thanks for adding the edit! To prove your point, I hit the update button before I typed anything. Oh, well.

Silence speaks volumes

Socrates - 04 Feb 2003 17:26 - 324 of 23498

Hi all, another day another dollar (so to speak).

vasey
No I've not yet spoken to (the lovely) Nick. I don't like to trouble people more than is necessary and at present I have nothing to ask.

I have given a little thought to your problem and wonder if it's because you may have 'exported' the data rather than copied it. If so, it may be that you have to import it or restore it. Some of these programmes can be a bit funny that way.

Is the teapot full, what about a cuppa for a starving chap?

jeffmack - 04 Feb 2003 18:05 - 325 of 23498

Hilary
Just read thru the Traders Thread, hope the squelching was not too painful.

Olddog - 04 Feb 2003 18:17 - 326 of 23498

Hic,

Vasey, its nothing to do with needing another hard drive.

Its everything to do with transfering data between systems if you dont have a LAN or a proper backup arrangement in place

Harddisk is miles cheaper & easier to set up than a CD writer

Dont think of the second harddisk as a permenant disk - its just there to serve you

I did this over christmas ( oh, what a sober time ) to rescue data from a Win3.1 m/c & put same on an NT m/c having ( wasted endless hours trying to get a CD writer to work.)

Olddog - 04 Feb 2003 18:22 - 327 of 23498

Wassup ?

My words in '< ' and '>' brackets didnt come out in the above
For the record the postie should have included the words :

Hic,

incoherent whisper mode

Belch

Burp

Spew

slump

g'nigh

And these should have been between the big gaps between the lines

Aw what a day

Golddog - 04 Feb 2003 20:27 - 330 of 23498

Hi all it's the Pooch here.

Now regarding the Trading Game, i hereby mutter that i dont have much time on my paws at the moment what with drinking very havily at the mo and all that, but i would like to get a little game started! So for those that have played before im changing it again so that you only have one stock to invest in either long or short with an initial 50,000. You can only make a new trade at the weekend so that your trade must last a week or however many weeks you want. Basically it will be a weekly trading game. So if you want to play just say so on this thready. There is no prize just the honour of showing off your share trading talents. Please ask any questions?
:-)

Anyone is welcome to play, and there will be selected team groups.

Socrates - 04 Feb 2003 20:30 - 331 of 23498

Golddog - 04 Feb 2003 20:31 - 332 of 23498

biffer & andycarr: my computer is now being worked on. The problem was the CD burner was broken. A new one is being installed. It will be 12 times faster! Well, ok, if the other one never worked, ANYTHING is faster than dead! XP going in too and dual VGA card. Ooooh, I'll be able to play with the big boys on the Traders' thread soon!
