How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Just logged in and seems OK at this end.

Things seem pretty much normal over here now but liquidity is taking some time to build.

Fundamentalist - 06 Jun 2005 16:11 - 3203 of 10502

All seems bak to normal my end - dipping my toe in slowly with reduced stakes just in case

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 16:15 - 3204 of 10502

Traded the last three races without any problems Steve.

bakko - 06 Jun 2005 16:31 - 3205 of 10502

I'm constantly losing the match odds page on the tennis. It keeps reverting back to the home page.

kernow - 06 Jun 2005 16:34 - 3206 of 10502

All well here - maybe a tad slow.

Fundamentalist - 06 Jun 2005 16:49 - 3207 of 10502

seems ok here apart from one occasion where it logged me out for no reason

Fundamentalist - 06 Jun 2005 16:54 - 3208 of 10502

see there is only 2 meetings this evening and very few of the races make trading appeal - going to catch up on some shares research for a while

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 17:02 - 3209 of 10502

bak,

have you found a decent site for live scores? I can't find one.

bakko - 06 Jun 2005 17:13 - 3210 of 10502

John,

The Stella tournament website is
http://www.stellaartoistennis.com/default.asp

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 18:35 - 3211 of 10502

I found that bak but it doesn't seem to be offering live scores does it.

Piptrader - 06 Jun 2005 19:20 - 3212 of 10502

Harlosh - there's a box 2/3 down the page: 'Live Scores Now', puts the scores (live) in separate window. It's working for me!

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 19:24 - 3213 of 10502

Bloody hell. Why didn't I see that. Thanks Pip.
Trouble is I'm only getting a blank screen with a small red cross in the corner. My settings must be stopping me getting it but I've no idea what.

Any ideas anyone???????

Fundamentalist - 06 Jun 2005 19:44 - 3214 of 10502

John

if i click on it the live scors load automatically - do you have an ad or pop up blocker active - that may be stopping it loading

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 19:50 - 3215 of 10502

I've deactivated the pop up blocker Steve and my firewall but it still doesn't help.

Piptrader - 06 Jun 2005 19:51 - 3216 of 10502

Yes, it's a window without a url, so something must be blocking it. Sorry can't help further.

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 20:31 - 3217 of 10502

Thanks anyway.

Fundamentalist - 06 Jun 2005 20:41 - 3218 of 10502

John

maybe a stupid thought but a prob i had in the past was the system i had had already had a blocker pre-installed that i did not know about and until i removed this i couldnt access pop ups on various sites - maybe worth a quick scan through "all programs"

compoundup - 06 Jun 2005 20:45 - 3219 of 10502

If you have one, the Google toolbar also has a blocker that would need to be disabled. That's not it by any chance?

Harlosh - 06 Jun 2005 22:09 - 3220 of 10502

Thanks Steve/Compound. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.
