THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Are you on drugs?

The UK is no longer a thiefdom for pillaging by a chosen few at the expense of the majority and also, the recognition that “full employment” is a probably a long term an “impossibility” and redistribution of it and the rewards from such will be distributed more evenly. That does not mean equally, but it does mean not disproportionally unequally.

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 08:09 - 32014 of 81564

fred - it merely seemed to me that sticky is very good at dishing out but not at all good when the boot comes back at him
frankly, i don't care whether he has 4 houses or 24, but his stance looks pretty hypocritical and i'm quite amused that he won't answer questions that he doesn't fancy

as to what you think of me from your padded armchair, i don't care one iota, but then i am very rarely offended and only cross on occasion and then only for a short time

what do i think of you?
not that you care, but i guess it's ok to dream of utopia and at least you won't get burnt at the stake like sir thomas moore ..... that i and most others don't share your dream except in snippets, i am sure does not worry you either

Fred1new - 01 Nov 2013 08:16 - 32015 of 81564

Just a little sad.

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 08:17 - 32016 of 81564

hey sticky - of course you don't offend me - see above in response to fred

we can't turn back the clock, and i'll be as succinct as i can be

i think a great deal of blame lies on the cultural perception that going to any old uni and getting some very silly degree is the holy grail and will guarantee a material utopia (a special for fred!) ..... in fact, it is probably only say 60/70% percentage of those students who will truly gain benefit from having gone to uni ..... the others, and some "true" graduates too, would have gained far more had there been proper work-placement schemes .... however, that requires a far greater involvement by local businesses at the secondary schools etc etc

i wonder how many schools actively encourage and foster that sort of thing, especially in the state sector

MaxK - 01 Nov 2013 08:23 - 32017 of 81564

Uni is a gift to gov of whatever flavour.

it's keeps a fair % of em off the unemployment figs.

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 08:26 - 32018 of 81564

heaven forbid that that thought should ever have crossed my mind!

MaxK - 01 Nov 2013 08:34 - 32019 of 81564

Found your web site...

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 08:37 - 32020 of 81564

StickySNR please dont judge others by your own standards.

Its dangerous to give out to much info on public B/boards i thought you would have known that.

On the other issue not hypocritical at all, my life isnt focused on greed like yours, I beleive like a lot of others knowledge is wealth and if knowledge provides me with wealth so be it thats a bi product.

What I chose to spend it on is up to me.

Dont forget I havent been given or had wealth handed down to me like your good self.

Fred1new - 01 Nov 2013 08:53 - 32021 of 81564

Reminds me of something or other.

Damn my tablets.

Fred1new - 01 Nov 2013 08:55 - 32022 of 81564

Perhaps, why somebody was dropped for Bing Crosby or was that desperation.

Fred1new - 01 Nov 2013 08:55 - 32023 of 81564

.

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 08:55 - 32024 of 81564

you don't actually know my background or much else about me, but merely surmise :-)

and yes, i thoroughly agree about the danger of public dissemination of private stuff
i'm not as careful (paranoid) as perhaps i should be, but certainly refuse to go near the likes of twitter and facebook

by the way, how do you define greed and why would your definition apply to me? .... or is that supposition once more, as i suspect?

Fred1new - 01 Nov 2013 08:57 - 32025 of 81564

Cynic,

Twitter and facebook.

Admit, you don't know which buttons to press, in order to do so.

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 09:09 - 32026 of 81564

Turn the record of its getting boring and your getting silly again now Cyners.

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 09:10 - 32027 of 81564

Cyners why do you fear Twitter?????????????????????????? (facebook havent a clue not a member)

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 09:16 - 32028 of 81564

Youd do well to read this Cyners and realise your wel out of date......

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/nov/01/how-economic-growth-has-become-anti-life

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 09:19 - 32029 of 81564

because as i understand it, once you have posted something on those mediums (media?) you cannot delete it
also, to become a member of either, i'm unsure what other info you have to give out to start with
on the other hand, we all happily give out full cc details and other stuff including passport etc whenever we book a flight or similar
frankly, if someone is really that desperate to dig into your private life and worse, i'm sure it's not really that difficult

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 09:28 - 32030 of 81564

First of all wrong on you cant delete it. Just placed a tweet up and Im given this option below.........

Reply Delete Favorite More Expand

As you will see I can delete it immediatly or whenever I want.

Not only that say I had some nutcase reply to me immediatly what can I do......

Im given this option

Block @jimmhk
Report @jimmhk for spam

I tell you now Sticky SNR its far safer than b/board sites like this one advfn etc etc.

You cant immediatly come back with an alias and have any effect aswel.

You should listen to your business associates and join up.

You can use a clapped out Pc you dont need a mod con phone.

Details to be given just like any B/board, nothing more.

goldfinger - 01 Nov 2013 09:33 - 32031 of 81564

o/topic, crikey its volatile out there today.

SGP up and down faster than Jordans knickers.

cynic - 01 Nov 2013 09:34 - 32032 of 81564

thanks for that .... perhaps i shall dip a toe into twitter as one of my clients would certainly like me to sign up

i go nowhere near advfn
20 minutes on there 3/4 years ago was more than enough for me
makes this board look polite :-)

===========

close shave for jordan i take it :-)
