I use MS Outlook for my E_mails and I am having trouble viewing attachments. When I click to open the attachment it tells me that the application can not be found. How do I set up MS Outlook to open these attachments?
I can veiw the attachment if I save the file first.
Your help would be appreciated
Paul

Cannot open attachments in Microsoft Outlook
SUMMARY
Microsoft Outlook includes a feature that blocks attachments that are considered unsafe. If you receive an e-mail message that contains an attachment that contains one of the file types that are considered unsafe, you may receive the following message:
Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: [...]
Although Outlook blocks access to the attachment, the attachment still exists in the e-mail message.
This article discusses the methods to use if you have to open an attachment that has been blocked in Outlook.
Hope that helps ;-)

paul1812, this sounds more like a badly installed application since it is looking for the application but not finding it. What extension are you trying to open and what application comes up by clicking on the name? Suggest you reinstall it. Otherwise you might be able to change the registry information if you know how.

Just about to buy some new hardware. However some of the customised software we presently use we will still need to use for the next 8-10 weeks or so will be DOS based. Can this run under windows XP pro?
edit, now having a look in Gopogle and I see there could be a problem. Hmm, will have to try on my XP PC at home.

Seymour - I moved datafile (like sage?) which is dos based onto xp pro with no problems - however I did have to upgrade my Lloyds Link.
I think your project managr should really try one and see!

That means me. Thanks Brian. This is an old system called Optisoft which no-one will have heard of and is no longer supported - hence the move to new software and machines.

Sc, agree with Optimist unless it needs to speak directly to a piece of hardware in which case it may well not work.

Thanks guys. This is ultra basic software we're talking. Doesn't talk to any hardware so will give it a go.

StLuke,
Although I am not familiar with this product you need to be looking at setting such as enable Java.
