How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Thanks Steve/Compound. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.

Harlosh, may I suggest you put the problem to the "PC & MAC CLINIC - On line problem solving" thread?

There don't seem to be many problems that one or more of the experts on this BB can't solve.

Morning All,

For the tennis fans out there, all the pre Wimbledon grass court tournaments are underway. For the mens its the Queen's club Stella Artois and the Gerry Weber Open in Germany. It seems that the top players are all in the Germany so maybe Henman has a chance to win something - Not! Just been checking his stats and his last title win was in Aug 2004 India Wells,USA on a hard surface where he beat Federer in the final 6-3 6-3. Now that's a surprise!

Likewise, the girls have converged at Eastbourne:

For you tennis lovers, currently a cracking game at the Stella on bbc2 between Leyton Hewitt and Xavier Malisse. Malisse won the 1st set, Hewitt the 2nd set and currently 4-4 in the third, if it gets to 6-6 it goes straight to a tie break

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 17:03 - 3224 of 10502

Hewitt wins 7-5 in the third

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 17:06 - 3225 of 10502

some guy called henman playing next

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 17:08 - 3226 of 10502

Henman 1.21 to beat Ginepri and 8.8 to win the tournament - cue the layers

bakko - 07 Jun 2005 17:15 - 3227 of 10502

I'm all for Henman to win this Mickey Mouse tournament so I can lay him big time for Wimbledon on reduced odds!

bakko - 07 Jun 2005 17:32 - 3228 of 10502

Green on Henman game.

Thank you Henman!

bakko - 07 Jun 2005 17:50 - 3229 of 10502

Wish I'd layed Henman now. Having been a break up, he's lost his serve and is serving to stay in the 1st set.

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 18:33 - 3230 of 10502

Won the 1st but now a break down in the second - can see those wimbledon odds drifting already lol

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 18:39 - 3231 of 10502

1-1 now

Thought i was being clever watching the big bro nominations - it was clear derek and sam were getting the most votes so i piled into both and laid lesley the hot favourite - ah the joys of the big brother twist - because one of the housemates had discussed the nominations they were voided and all housemates were put up for eviction.

Now got a nasty red position to unravel on lesley to be evicted friday night

kajman - 07 Jun 2005 21:48 - 3233 of 10502

Fundy, Me too. I've backed Sam as a cert this week. :-(

Still can't understand why Lesley should be the favourite though.

Fundamentalist - 07 Jun 2005 22:31 - 3234 of 10502

Managed to unravel most of my position now.

Small red on Lesley, large Green on Derek

Lesley now odds on to leave (1.84) - cant believe this wont drift at some point between now and friday - will look to lay the rest of the red off if the price goes above 2.5

Dil - 07 Jun 2005 23:58 - 3235 of 10502

kajman , its not wot the bb inmates think its wot the public vote for.

I think Sam may see a few of the favourites off in a head to head.

Kayak - 08 Jun 2005 00:02 - 3236 of 10502

Lesley is a right cow, let's face it...

kajman - 08 Jun 2005 00:03 - 3237 of 10502

F - at least this market moves around. Now layed Sam (I wish!) for a small loss overall.

But then backed again at 4.1 (small) because it seems over-generous.

Dil - 08 Jun 2005 00:13 - 3238 of 10502

I want to lay Sam too :-)

Dil - 08 Jun 2005 00:20 - 3239 of 10502

Scrip , don't know if anyone else has mentioned it but while my daughter was using the PC yesterday while I was logged on she asked why I had "odd sex tractor .com" as a favourite in IE.
