shao & 1910
Good point you make about legislation and packaging disposal for the biodegradable side of the business,

As for the tray lidding, we now have proof of packaging companies suffering due to high energy costs this is affecting the cost's of there materials plastic's etc. In the Torygraph today 21/04/2005 (Quester) is reporting on Smith DS how it has just had a 2.5m hit in its results (Update) Trading Statement (packaging division) as a result of high oil prices, that I am sure are here to stay.
This is why the 10000 tons of plastic saving using seos technology will be very much in demand by these companies.

Taken from Smiths Trading Statement

Results in Plastic Packaging have been adversely affected in the second half of
the year by the sharp rise in polymer prices which are now some 35-40% higher
than at the start of this financial year for our main polymer types. Although
we have raised our selling prices several times during the year, it has not been
possible to recover these cost increases in full. The cumulative effect of this
under-recovery on the division's result for the year is expected to be
approximately 2.5 million.

4 million buys in the last half an hour - something is brewing for tomorrow guys?

driver: my triangle was actually a flag. No matter, we've broken through that anyway and are in new ground. It feels good. In the mountains looking down on the world. There's bos playing his sax; there's pth practising his putting for golf day. All very heady. I suggested that today would see an early fall with return to status quo. Well, we'd done that bit by 09:00 and then onwards and upwards. Poor noggodynog does occasional plaintiff posts but is probably not read because he has been squelched. I wonder what vile substance emerged; like that old Doctor Who squelch from the underworld.

2.6m trade buy after hours; building up stock for tomorrow so as not to be caught short, like Paula Radcliffe in the marathon! There's no resistance level left so market will have to find its own level. There are certain to be questions asked about US and Walmart so the easy way may be for them to make a statement that either the deal is done or test marketing is being undertaken or whatever. These Premier and Advanced engineers are being trained because it is known that they are going straight home to start retrofits; what other reason? Should also get the ASDA supplier trials completed and the 12 month exclusivity clock ticking. What's that worth to the share price. May complete Zak's second phase to 30P. The point about stock shortage (I think driver who is an observant sort of fellow; not good looking but observes good lookers!) is relevant. If there are only 200million shares potentially available and we are getting demand at 10million a day; what happens when that demand jumps - the sp is the only thing to give so it could get ahead of itself. Take your profits? Perhaps some of them but the question then is 'how far ahead'. The current gradient is 4p a quarter, so 30p is 2 months ahead; 50p would be 7 months ahead, so Xmas has come early! But don't dilute the holding too much as the gradient says 2 by end of next year. Uncle Eric has spoken!

The flag is OK, still fluttering over an ascendent SEO and in costant relative position to SEO! As SEO soars into the stratosphere, so the flag soars with it - anyway,, that's one explanation for the chart!

By the way, see my letter today in Shares re ASOS and SEO. I wrote a letter last week about YOO and they found it more palatable to post my older letter - see my comments on YOO thread! lol!

Biscuit - 21 Apr 2005 18:28 - 3243 of 27111

What are peoples thoughts on sp if a deal with Wal-Mart is announced?

jimmy b - 21 Apr 2005 19:55 - 3244 of 27111

I think that buy of 5 shares earlier was our mate insider , he's done his money on shorting , that didn't work so he's buying instead..JB..

ptholden - 21 Apr 2005 20:02 - 3245 of 27111

He's over on the ADvFN 'bashing' EVS amongst others.

stockdog - 21 Apr 2005 20:36 - 3246 of 27111

bosley - the 5 share buyer is someone who wants to attend the AGM I expect. Perhaps its nogsider the noggin squared (or whatever His Squelchiness is calling himself these days) himself turning up to explain to the directors how to run their company for a loss so that his shorting exercise is proved correct (not to say profitable). ho ho

23 today, who's got the key of the door, tra la, la

stockdog - 21 Apr 2005 20:45 - 3247 of 27111

Biscuit - if ASDA is announced my thoughts are sex, wine, chocolates, flowers, more sex, a bit of fishing, winning the trophy with Bos on drums and me on euphonium, getting to be as well informed as Eric, meeting Honey, yet more sex - why what were you going to spend your time thinking about?

:)))))

ethel - 21 Apr 2005 21:16 - 3248 of 27111

Sounds pretty exhausting to me,is'nt walking the dog less strenuous?
You are a great crowd and I'm very pleased that you resisted the onslaught from insides out.
I bought on the good news just before Easter Friday and got frightened out by the sudden drop.Sold for a small profit.Of course, wished that I had stayed for the ride.
I wish you all good luck for tomorrow and hope for good news.Your enthusiasm and excitement is palpable.Wish I was with you.

driver - 21 Apr 2005 21:27 - 3249 of 27111

ethel

Diamonds are forever.

bosley - 21 Apr 2005 22:19 - 3252 of 27111

sd, i dont want to read too much into it , BUT,

".....meeting Honey, yet more sex ..."

isn't honey eric's dog????????????

biscuit, i would forget about walmart until there is something definate. i'm not pooh-poohing (never thought i would ever find a context for that!!) the thought, just sticking to what we know.

sharesure, if i was at the agm , i would want to know how the asda deal , with its exclusivity affects the grampian deal?
also, last may seo announced that they expected to produce tonnes of the starch/pva material within twelve months. has this happened? (rns dated may 11th below)

"Stanelco plc, the RF (radio frequency) applications group, has applied for a
process patent on behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary Adept Polymers Ltd. This
follows the development of a new range of low cost biodegradable materials that
can be processed like conventional thermoplastics.

The materials are comprised of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and starch and have
unique properties; combining the strength and dissolution advantages of PVA with
the biodegradability of starch. This facilitates the production of a chemically
resistant, low-cost film, which can be used as a replacement for other packaging
materials as well as opening up a new range of opportunities as a result of its
enhanced characteristics. With the equipment recently purchased from Sixela,
Stanelco expects to be able to produce the material in quantities of up to 2000
tonnes annually within 12 months."

then on the 26th november they announced

"Stanelco PLC said it has developed a new low cost biodegradable starch/PVA film product for use with its radio frequency technology in tray manufacture and thermoform packaging.

Trials of the new product will start in the New Year and, if successful, commercialization will begin in the current financial year.

The company said it is in talks with a number of end users and manufacturers regarding the testing of the technology.

Initially the product will be targeted at organic ranges, which represents about 6 pct of Supermarket produce sales, it said."

have there been any developements with this?
yours, in anticipation and gratitude.

Question - If SEO are going to make an announcement today at the AGM, are they obliged to release that news to the stock exchange in advance of the meeting, after the meeting or at the same time as the meeting. Are there rules governing the release of such info.

Answers on a postcard please !!

bosley - 22 Apr 2005 07:37 - 3255 of 27111
