THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

it seems to me that pension rules, like trust rules, change about every 5 years, the intent being to benefit solely the exchequer (+ accountants and lawyers)

goldfinger - 08 Nov 2013 10:15 - 32417 of 81564

Indeed indeed.

This new semi-compulsory pension whereby you have to opt out (every 3 years) so as not to be included will be a disaster imo. Off now until monday as away for a weekend break.

News of the prospective windfall for Mr Hunt, the MP for South West Surrey, may cause embarrassment for the Government at a time when a debate about the cost of living is dominating Britain's political discourse.

With the NHS expected to face a strain on resources during the winter, Mr Hunt is likely to face a tough few months in Westminster.

Ed Miliband, the Labour leader, has frequently sought to portray the Conservative-led coalition as an out-of-touch millionaires' club, and Mr Hunt is far from the only independently wealthy Cabinet minister.

Fred1new - 08 Nov 2013 10:40 - 32430 of 81564

Cynic,

Are you a signed up member of the UK tea party?

If not, Tinker or his pal can send you the necessary forms.

cynic - 08 Nov 2013 10:43 - 32431 of 81564

i'm sorry to tell you that i don't like the american political system at all ..... i'm sure it doesn't work as the founding fathers intended, but the result today is that a small minority is effectively able to bring the country to a disastrous standstill

Haystack - 08 Nov 2013 10:48 - 32432 of 81564

Why shouldn't cabinet ministers be independently wealthy? Plenty of Labour ministers have been wealthy. In fact I would prefer it. At least they have knowledge of the business world. They also don't need their salary from parliament or need a career. That makes them more likely to be able to act in the best way and not worry about their jobs.

Fred1new - 08 Nov 2013 10:56 - 32433 of 81564

Hays,

"That makes them more likely to be able to act in the best way and not worry about their jobs."

For themselves, or the country as a whole?

UMMMMMMMMM.,

Fred1new - 08 Nov 2013 10:56 - 32434 of 81564

Double posting?

TANKER - 08 Nov 2013 10:56 - 32435 of 81564
