Whilst not admitting that the above method may not produce a winner, there is a balance to be drawn because the winner will be the person whoes shares make the most money. It only needs some-one to select a multi-bagger to win on the basis of one share.

Obviously choosing shares such as BARC or LLOY would be unlikely to be able to compete since they may put on, say, 50% at the outside and then only under a special circumstance i.e. take-over bid.

The winner is likely to be someone who selects a share that is currently out of favour, probably a small cap, which through some specific circumstance is about to take off. Possibly a new product that will be a must have with mega sales potential, or possibly a company that has previously bombed out but has been turned round by new management and returns much better than expected figures.

It all comes down to the risk-reward ratio, the higher the risk the greater the reward if it comes off, but also the less likey it is to happen.

There are many other reasons out there why a share may go into orbit but there are a few ideas to chew on.
All IMHO naturally.

I'm sure others can give you some ideas but if the competition had been run earlier then TDM, GOL, PDX might have given people a run for their money.

little willie
Note Item 3 on the list!

snoball - 13 Dec 2003 12:16 - 3245 of 23498

Thanks a lot Socs. I'll try the dartboard method. It sounds more reliable.

Golddog - 13 Dec 2003 12:22 - 3246 of 23498

I tried the dartboard method once but killed the cat! Not such a good idea.

Gianni, Hi. Regarding the game i like to keep it simple (like myself) so just select 3 ordinary shares please. Please help yourself to a drinky.

Everyone is welcome to play the Game and remember if you miss this weekend you can start anytime in the next few weeks at weekends only. (does that make sense?)
:-)

Bring on the Tea. (too early for booze). go on then just a wee drop of something warm in it! (no not that!)

This_is_me - 13 Dec 2003 14:41 - 3247 of 23498

GD if the dartboard method killed the cat everyone should try it. Ever since a caat ate Me budgies when I was little I've hated the brutes - the only good cat is a dead one.

Thanks for all the Christmas present ideas, particularly the sensible one from snow ball - obviously snow knows about Christmas! One idea I had was to buy her a Cheeky Girls video that we could watch together. What do you think?

This_is_me - 13 Dec 2003 14:48 - 3248 of 23498

Socrates - 14 Dec 2003 07:48 - 3254 of 23498

Good morning bejaizus begorrah!

little willie - 14 Dec 2003 09:53 - 3255 of 23498

Morning Socs, what dragged you from your pit so early on a sunday morn?
had a couple of not so nice days her, poured with rain yesterday and today, overcast but warm.
Off out for some trough with friends at nearby bistro.
Mrs.lw returns to these shores early tommorrow, she's on the 'red eye' arriving at 6am so yesterday got the maid to scourt the house, top to bottom, clean sheets etc. clear all the bottles away and take anything green out of the fridge.

Funny how you and Jeffers have a loyalty to Wiggie after all the crap and dissapointments they've produced over the years; I guess its the local connection!!!!????
On paper it was a sound idea but hasn't done so to H.M. Govt. and thats what matters; should have bribed Tarzan, he'd have taken the bait to back it when he was in Govt.

As for the race track idea, sky and pies come to mind!!

Bit like me with old Bio not so compatible and Bio not so tech...lol

stockbunny - 14 Dec 2003 10:20 - 3256 of 23498

Good Morning People!
Tea and a round of toast for the bunny please.
Ok stock selections for the game as follows:
LLOY - 30,000
MKS - 30,000
PAG - 20,000
((See Socs has also bagged LLOY guess that doesn't matter
as we aren't near enough to copy each other sir honest....)))

pipeman - 14 Dec 2003 10:36 - 3257 of 23498

Based upon the scientific method of stock selection these three came out of the teapot first

50 long vts
15 long tfc
15 long dtm

Socrates - 14 Dec 2003 11:02 - 3258 of 23498

little willie
Does that mean the lettuce and cucumber went too?

Nothing wrong with Wiggie. Just fell foul of 9/11 or it would all be different now.

stockbunny
You are welcome to LLOY, every dog has it's day and it must surely be LLOYs sooner or later.

I see you are South of Watford, well that could be anything, little willie is South of Watford. Are you neighbours purchance?

pipeman
I tried the teapot method but the ink ran on the paper.

stockbunny - 14 Dec 2003 13:02 - 3259 of 23498

Oh I wish - with the weather Little Willie gets...sadly no
we are not neighbours. When I was a kid
((NO Smirks plse!!)) the phrase reference South or North of
Watford was commonplace...I'm currently in the 'sunny' climes
to the west of the metropolis better known as Middx.

8Ball - so you've got a control freak boss???
Hey try self-employment it's a roller coaster of fun
excitement and near poverty at times but it beats the
Monday morning blues!!!

So where's the lunchtime fayre than GD???
Come to think of it...Where is our gorgeous host today???
((See, I know how to get a drink on the house!!)))
