My short got closed out on the limit for 79 points.
Considering that whole trade was done from what I learned at the
Finspreads seminar, which was free, it was well worth going.

closed off part longs kept 25 open ...in case intraday opening it goes up next week....9750 ish...

Still have $55 shorts opens...20/10 hedge overall...in case dow hit 10000, that way I can cover margin calls etc...

was hoping market would finish neare 9745/50...20points out, saying that it closed at just under the important mark of 9725...which means in could well open high first next week before trailing back much further...under 9700, in which case will close off longs...and open daily shorts for quick plays...

The bottom line I haven't a scooby...lol..

Hope all did well...it is so important to have a stategy that works and an exit plan if things look ugly...and not be afraid to take a cut in profit or take a loss and run...

Hi,
Got 2 longs open and will be happy to close them off at around 9750 and be positive.
I closed the shorts off with good earnings and will sleep soundly tonight.
The nightmare will start sunday late night when the Jap market awakens and hopefully monday the ftse does not take a southbound and take the dow down with it.
then again it may open upwards and hey presto alls solved

Jules you were up very early today.
What do you reckon the dow is going to unleash on us today?
My thoughts are that it is going to take a hike upwards and if succesively past 9725-9730 onwards a steep rise. That will do nicely as my 2 longs are already in credit - but am going to wait (greed factor) and also with the nightmare that it gave us on friday i want to fleece it.

Some useless Philosophy while counting down to open:

Ahhhh!

Help! Anyone out there a previous Nothing Ventured user? They've sold out to Fastrade and we've all been moved over to that site.

What a mess - this Fastrade site is crap. I'm so pissed off I can hardly type this message. NV was such a brilliant trading tool and now we've got this. What the hell are they playing at. Couldn't those numbskulls at Charles Stanley see that the NV site was much superior to there own and use that instead and just stick their Fastrade badge onto it.

Any ex-NV users please let me know what your thoughts are today.

I have started a new thread to discuss the NV/Fastrade issue.

good call at open - i see it's up. did you based this on the pre-open/weekend news, or just had your fingers crossed with the 2xlngs that were left open. do you find PLAYBOYS summary with its support and resistance lines useful - i feel almost overloaded with 'information' which makes it hard to see the wood for the trees.....

STILL NOT trading the indices and as such am in ISYS (again) and BA. (again).

who are you using for LEVEL II ? i have been trying to find my way round the IG site - am i missing something, looks v.v.v. undynamic (??). i thought it would be a v.good trading flatform?? i know you're with them....any tips/hints as to best use of site.

Closed off ftse, was short from 4368 this am...at 4350...

Good calls so far, closed off longs at 9751...phew...nothing lost...

Opened shorts at 9752 and again 9724 for today ...looking to see it go down today...under 9700-9650

Worse scenario is I can close both out at 9740 even stevens...SO wishing it stays under 9740.

terod: To answer briefly a combination of all and mainly by looking at what the market is telling u to do.

Just before closed the 1 long off and had one short on before the market opened as a hedge and closed that off in profit aswell.
Now am just watching the market and looking for opps.

If Dow drops back later to 9700 or tests water under 9690 may leave shorts open for tomorrow...Im thankful to DOW giving me 2 opportunities this afternoon to close-off fridays longs at 9750...Thanks DOW...!

Jules i have got one long and one short open at present.

Before the market opened the trin was around 1.83 or 1.93 if memory serves right.
It seems stagnant and bobbing around 9719 +/- 10. dec dow
I think u r right the market might end up giving us a good day.
Will look at shorting /longs as the opps arise

Short Nov future @ 9742.

Snowball im also short from 9751...the last hour is always decisve move for the DOW...tmorrow I see the ftse up am and some of the techies also...dont hold any...

Shorted Hilton AND TOMKINS...today. Tech stocks I just want to watch at the moment, some rising on little volume...retail investors buying on downside, but they could easily go down 5/10 % if US market turns...

Since starting CFD's only seen a rising market so far...I hope the South spirral begins soon... lots to learn...but it must be a pleasure to see DOW dive 150 points and not cringe...
