Mediwatch - Watch them rocket in 2005 !!! (MDW)

overgrowth - 12 May 2005 22:21

Mediwatch is a small company destined to become a much bigger fish by the time this year is out. Mediwatch are already a market leader in urological medical diagnostics equipement and are currently exporting their products throughout the UK, Canada, Europe, India and Japan. That doesn't leave much of the globe left for them to capture - until you remember the good ol' US and China. These are the two massive markets which are destined to be added to MDW's export client portfolio by the end of 2005.

The company is currently heavily undervalued. This is probably because Mediwatch's speciality is not a very glamourous business to be in as their equipment is used extensively to diagnose prostate cancer in men and other nasty urological conditions affecting both men and women. However, don't let that put you off investing in these guys. This is big business and is growing at an exponential rate as more and more people globally become health-aware as they get older.

Mediwatch normally supply their products through to global markets via distribution agreements. They already have the best of distribution partners in the well known US medical distributor CR Bard who supply Canada and Europe and GE Medical who supply Japan. The UK business is handled by Mediwatch's own dedicated sales team.

US FDA approval was gained for MDW's products at the start of last year, however a whole year of US legal wrangling meant that they were unable to seek a suitable partner for the crucial distribution agreement until the start of this year. This distribution agreement is expected by the board to have a "significant effect" on the share price so they are reluctant to give any clues as to when it will be signed, sealed and delivered. The general consensus is that this US distribution agreement will be announced in July/August. In China and Hong Kong, MDW have done things the other way round. They have set up distribution agreements with major Asian medical equipment distributors and have stock already out there waiting to sell into the markets - all they are waiting for is SDA approval (which is a "rubber stamp") from the Chinese authorities - this can take anything up to 12 months to come through and MDW applied during Autumn 2004 - so even more good news coming soon this year. Epidemiological data from British Association of Urology conference last year: On average 30-45% of all men between the age of 50 and 70 have at least one PSA test per year in the US / Italy / Australia.

If that's not enough to convince you to invest a few hard earned coppers in MDW, they are also developing a PSA stick test product (PSAWatch) which is revolutionary and causing some excitement in medical circles. This product can also be adapted (at very low cost) for a whole spectrum of medical disciplines from Cardiology to Veterinary Practice! This product is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Philip Stimpson the CEO has said that this product is going to be their "gold mine" - I'm sure it will prove to be ours too.

L2 3v2 - it looks as though the MMs still don't have much stock.

petralva - 21 Jun 2005 11:16 - 330 of 1497

that moved back up quickly........have we found a new support line?

overgrowth - 21 Jun 2005 11:36 - 331 of 1497

It certainly looks like it!

12.5p will do nicely for now, though I suspect that we may see more upside before results/news.

overgrowth - 21 Jun 2005 15:01 - 332 of 1497

A very interesting tick-up now, with mainly sells throughout the day - someone's placed a whopping great order...

petralva - 21 Jun 2005 15:07 - 333 of 1497

so we should see it at the end of the day og.......300000 at 12.83

ptholden - 21 Jun 2005 17:47 - 334 of 1497

Bought a few more today, and will possibly do the same tomorrow dependant on how the SP fares. Hoping for a dip.

EVO are still buying in shares above the bid !

This must be a stonking great "institution sized" buy order.

andysmith - 22 Jun 2005 15:43 - 336 of 1497

OG, Are you saying that the sells are actually buys?

optomistic - 22 Jun 2005 15:52 - 337 of 1497

Andy on L2 orderbook trading the bid by the MM is a buy by them yet is shown in trades as an AT sell. Conversely for the offer, it is shown as an AT buy but is actually a sell off the MM's book. Buyers and sellers always been a puzzle but there has to be one of each :-))

overgrowth - 22 Jun 2005 16:00 - 338 of 1497

andy - EVO have been absorbing all the sells at above the touch price of the bid - this suggests that they are filling a very large buy order.

The MMs don't hold much stock in MDW, so if someone says they want to buy a million or 2 million shares, they then have to force out lots of sellers to fill the buy order.

They can't simply drop the bid right down causing a "tree shake" because they've already seen that there has been significant buying support - i.e. if they drop the bid too much then even more buyers will come in to top-up and they'll be even further away from filling their order.

So, EVO is making a market enticing sellers by allowing them to sell at a price higher than the published bid price.

They've been there for several days now, happy to collect in shares which are being sold at above the bid - so it must be a large buy order being filled.

andysmith - 22 Jun 2005 16:03 - 339 of 1497

Thanks for that info, my extra dosh is due anyday now, guess where it will go!!!

banjomick - 22 Jun 2005 22:31 - 340 of 1497

og,not being an expert myself in all the deep workings of the mm's and the dark side.If as you say(not doubting you, just learning)they are filling a large order, then when it is eventually completed will that have been absorbed already in the current sp?? Looking at the amount of sells compared to buys today, which would normaly have dropped the sp much further I would take that as a yes?

banjomick - 22 Jun 2005 22:59 - 341 of 1497

It's obviously more complicated than that for a banja player to understand-lol
Any one one else want to make comment on mdw? Just playing a few tunes with my banja full of old t-shirts so as not to make too much noise and annoy nextdoor and family.

overgrowth - 22 Jun 2005 23:19 - 342 of 1497

mick - yep, you're quite correct that once the buy order is filled it will make no difference at all to the sp.

However, a mysterious buyer with very deep pockets will give other buyers the confidence to pile in and "dip their bread"...and the MMs won't need to hold the price back at any given level - should be blue sky.

What sort of (muffled) stuff do you play on the banja ?

ptholden - 22 Jun 2005 23:45 - 343 of 1497

Just looking at the chart, I think we may see a bit more retracement, assuming there is no news. Think I might have been a bit hasty yesterday, in buying another 10k. Going to give it a few more days before the next top up, looking for 11p. Just hope I don't get stuffed by good news in the meantime.

banjomick - 22 Jun 2005 23:51 - 344 of 1497

og,Try to play all sorts of stuff mainly in the 'old time' banjo style ie,clawhammer/frailing.
bit like below but with fiddle and guitar playing along:

http://www.banjonews.com/ArknsTrav.mp3

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 00:17 - 345 of 1497

mick - Sounds great if you play like Ken Perlman, or maybe you are Ken Perlman..., if so with all those recordings to your name I'm sure that you're well invested in MDW - you'll need to file an RNS for your 3% declaration soon lol!

pth - you could be right, though now all the Mediwatch news is coming together we'll be looking back at the end of the year and saying "pity I didn't accumulate at 14p it was a real bargain then". A slight retracement here will give us more stability going forward - let some of the early profit takers take their dosh and then it's onwards and upwards to the next level.

There's going to be a bit of resistance at 14p also, though I have a feeling that no matter what the price is when the US news breaks it will double in a very short timeframe (hours or days).

I'm curious to see how much our mystery buyer picks up...

banjomick - 23 Jun 2005 00:37 - 346 of 1497

og,def.not KP they were just some mp3's i had at hand to explain the type of music i try to play.Tried playing bluegrass style but kept knocking the bridge off with me picks-lol
Are we expecting the announcement of PSAwatch from the BAUS conf.or has it been released already? The window problem has been solved by the way...found an isa tucked away...phew-lol

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 01:00 - 347 of 1497

mick, I bet you several K Mediwatch shares, that you can't play in a pub without someone asking "do you do duelling banjos" aaarrgh. lol!

Didn't you see the poster from BAUS conference programme?

http://bausannualmeeting.org/pdf/p062.pdf

I assume that PSAwatch will feature prominently in the results, though the "official" launch is going to be at BAUS.

I would guess that PSAwatch is in production now, though MDW won't be able to sell it until the US FDA and European EMEA approvals come through.

That was a stroke of luck on the window front, I think I'll check my old ISA's lol!

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 10:36 - 348 of 1497

pth - an interesting bit of L2 analysis from smudge over the road:

"evos are still bidding for stock and have to stay above hoodless brennan on 11.5, wins are the ones selling, although they cannot have many shares as evos have been soaking them up, wins are at 12 then the next mm is 12.5

still looking like a stonking buy being filled"

What price are you hoping for to top up ?
