THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I think like the majority of the public are quiet happy for the labour party to be influenced by the "unions"

who told you that fred?
your mummy and daddy perhaps?

mind you, i guess a lot of those who do not support the labour party are also very glad that that party is clearly influenced by the unions, but of course not for the reason you would hope

stan - another very useful day today, some biz conducted in the office and some on the golf course :-)

Manuel,

Remember your position.

My mother was a blue blooded tory. (May god have mercy on her soul.)

My father didn't discuss his vote but I would suspect Liberal, in modern day parlance a Social Democrat.

His views and mine probably concur on many things and valuations.

But, one of the real influences that they had on me was to question my own stances and evaluate them and make my own choices, but to realise we all can have feet of clay.

I think that has been imparted to my own children, along with a tolerance of their own and the fallibilities of others.

Office biz? more like putting practice don't you mean, And as for Golf course biz? Oh how very "lower working class" of you -):

Fred1new - 20 Nov 2013 18:55 - 33064 of 81564

Hays.

If you inflate yourself any more, you will be having conversations with God.

(God forbid.)

Sympathies then Alf, sympathies -):

Stan.

In Manuel's case, it was probably potty practice.

cynic - 20 Nov 2013 19:10 - 33067 of 81564

i take it you don't play with a little round, white ball and the plebs then stan

Did start to play golf in the very late 70's but work and other sports prevented me playing more then I would have liked and I haven't gone back to it but may do later in life. My 1st actual experience on an 18 holer was to go on a weeks golf clinic with Dai Rees near Dublin (Based at Bray and Woodbrook GC), A really enjoyable time I had as well, think that DR was a member of south hearts GC or somewhere in Herts. We played a number of courses as well as Woodbrook. I joined Hawstead when I got back for a season or two.

cynic - 20 Nov 2013 19:48 - 33070 of 81564

i didn't know dai rees was still alive in the late 70s .... i was lucky enough to meet him once, though i don't exactly recollect it though i do know where it was

Twas 1979, Here we are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dai_Rees died in 83' shortly after a car crash, A nice man who took the time to get out of his car which was in front of me to give a very rookie young feller some directions as we all traveled back to Dublin after the Clinic.

Haystack - 20 Nov 2013 21:30 - 33073 of 81564

Kennedy was killed on a Friday. The next day John Kilbride, 12, is abducted by Myra Hindley and Ian Brady. Incredibly Kennedy was killed on the Friday and his state funeral was on the Monday at Arlington.

Bury the evidence pronto.

cynic - 21 Nov 2013 07:15 - 33075 of 81564

rather annoying ... i'm sure i had a golf book signed by dai rees, but at best, i seem to have misplaced it .... however, i do have a box of brand new warwicks still in original wraooers and box!

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 07:18 - 33076 of 81564

"brand new warwicks" What are they balls? If your pardon the expression.

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 07:34 - 33077 of 81564

cynic - 21 Nov 2013 07:51 - 33078 of 81564

gosh - didn't realise you were THAT young!
indeed; warwicks are of the era prior to the universal 1.68" diameter ... in those days, uk golf balls were 1.62"

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 07:59 - 33079 of 81564

Oh really, so does that mean that the newer bigger balls run slightly slower and therefore better to control when in the air?
