indeed; warwicks are of the era prior to the universal 1.68" diameter ... in those days, uk golf balls were 1.62"

Oh really, so does that mean that the newer bigger balls run slightly slower and therefore better to control when in the air?

it was rather the opposite ..... the americans introduced the 1.68" ball, but at the time, it was felt that this new size was too prone to influence by the wind and thus unsuitable for uk (links) conditions

in (comparatively) recent years, technology and lab testing has developed the way dimples are scattered over the ball as well as their profile

at least as large an influence has been the development of ball coverings and indeed the whole structure of it.

you will have noticed that golf balls now only get cut by the mower, whereas in the days of real balata, a thinned shot would put a big "smile" on the ball

Interesting thanks, I always preferred the shorter/putting aspect of the game myself, so preferred pitch & putt to be honest. Didn't like Links golf as to fast and could be windy being near the coast. More skills needed of course, but my view is that all the sport that I play has to be relaxing and enjoyable as well as testing my own level of skill.

i can't recollect the last time that we were quite so busy with very serious and substantial enquiries, not only for the carriage of relatively mundane chemicals but also on the very specialised gas side

smoke and mirrors re improving economies?
facts say otherwise, though it should be remembered that chemicals lead the upward cycle with improved employment and other stuff following in its wake
