How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Hi bak

im back in but its running at snails pace :-(

are you on the roddick game?

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 14:44 - 3312 of 10502

Yep, Betfair no hangups on the tennis

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 14:46 - 3313 of 10502

Just enjoying the game now as built up a hefty profit on Roddick with no loss if he doesn't win

Fundamentalist - 11 Jun 2005 14:49 - 3314 of 10502

giving up on the horses - system is running too slowly for me to trade at the mo - will watch the end of the tennis then have another look

Fundamentalist - 11 Jun 2005 14:53 - 3315 of 10502

profit is looking safe Bak

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 14:55 - 3316 of 10502

Just greened up at 1.01 just to be on the safe side

Fundamentalist - 11 Jun 2005 14:59 - 3317 of 10502

Nice one bak

system is not good at my end so taking a break

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 15:01 - 3318 of 10502

Match to Roddick. But having seen his games in Paris and here I'm not convinced he has the all round game to win Wimbledon. He has the habit to be cruising along in convincing fashion then seems to lose it. He's not the quickest on court and is too reliant on his big serve.

The next game is interesting. Karlovic is 6ft 10 with a serve to match!

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 15:23 - 3319 of 10502

This Karlovic guy is straight out of a freak show!

He broke the Swede's first game and the odds tumbled from 1.91 down to 1.4!

Fundamentalist - 11 Jun 2005 15:29 - 3320 of 10502

Bakko

i was planning to back karlovic but was busy trying to reboot, by the time i had he was 2-0 up.

Cant see him losing many service games, may be an interesting punt for wimbledon with a favourable draw

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 15:34 - 3321 of 10502

The big guy only seems to have a serve. Seems very slow and not a big hitter. Grass will suit him.

I backed him at the beginning with a small amount and already green.

Hope you system is back to full speed.

Fundamentalist - 11 Jun 2005 15:39 - 3322 of 10502

Bak

seems to have a big forehand but doent use it much, there again on grass the serve is going to be enough - he hasnt lost a point when he has got his first serve in and only lost 4 points 4 games and 2 of them doubles!!!

system still playing up - suspect it is a problem with my broadband so not trading for a while, just watching the tennis

bakko - 11 Jun 2005 15:50 - 3323 of 10502

1st set to Karlovic.
I was keeping a note on the change in odds throughout that 1st set. Odds dropped considerably when he broke the 1st game but it seemed that the odds since then had already taken into account that the set was a mere formality.
When he finally bagged that last game to seal the set it only moved 3 ticks.

Hi all

just backed taylor in the darts at 7.0 when 7-1 down - now back to 7-3 - when to green?

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 14:24 - 3325 of 10502

Green at 2.2 on the darts :-)

Anyone trading the tennis final?

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:29 - 3326 of 10502

Just switched onto the tennis. All going to service. Perfect trading conditions!

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 14:37 - 3327 of 10502

Bak

roddick had 3 break points in the first game and failed to take them - could well be 2 or 3 tie breaks to decide this match
