PC & MAC CLINIC - On line problem solving. (CPU)

Can anyone help with a simple Access query (no pun!) please?

My Access experience is "beginner level", so any help needs to be explained in detail. I'm using Access 2002.

The requirement is to export a simple Access report to a series of static html pages. The report has no header or footer and I have used design view to lay out elements (fields) from the query in the report detail section.

I would appreciate help on the following:
(a) When exporting the report to html, the created html files retain the page setup characteristics of a real printer (ie each html file contains the same amount of data/records that would be on an A4 printed page). How do I set the report to ignore this page size and put more data into each html file?
(b) When the html files are created, the report detail layout changes slightly (as the html table definition does not fully reflect the complexity of the query design layout).

Advice on either problem would be much appreciated, as would details of any website that provides information on using Access. (I've already searched the MS site without much success.)

many thanks,
rt.

Hi - I'm sure I've had the answer to this but I can't find it.
I have a dual head graphics card with an analougue and digital output. In order to run to analogue monitors, I need to get an AVI converter cable??
Any comments welcome - I seem to remember Big Al mentioning this but I'll be buggered if I can find it! (metaphorically speaking of course)

Mr Charts
Sometimes you have to many programs running at startup.
Check in your start\programs\startup and move all entries into another directory. Then check if this has helped your system rescources. You can also download a program from my site www.ftsedow.com in the software zone called xsetup which allows you to disable startup programs. If this does not work I suggest a clean reinstallation

David

I've managed to get my immediate access query issues resolved, so no need to answer the earlier post.

Hi campers,
I have a problem which has arisen from buying a new motherboard which has a different drive controller than the last one. I am running Win 2000 and I now get an "Inaccessible Boot Device" error and the system crashes. The system is looking for the old controller which is obviously not there.
The internet has been quite useful in providing info and I have attempted to follow that advice and I am now stuck.
I am trying to repair the old install with my W2K CD but I cannot remember what the Administrator password was when it was originally installed. I have tried everything I think it might have been but just can't get the right one. Without it I am stuck as I don't really want to wipe the drive and reinstall everything except as a last resort.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?
TT

Time Traveller, how about buying a new hard disk and doing a clean installation on that. Then you can use the other as a backup and copy all the files you need from it.
The current price of a 40gig HDD is around 50
Just an idea, D.

skinny, will ask my suppliers on Monday for you.

Croc,
That is my next plan but was just trying to get everything working without the extra expense just yet.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hello

I have a DELL laptop 8200, 10 mths old. The battery now dies after about 10 mins from a full charge. Previously it would last 2 hrs. I'm doing nothing different usage - wise.

Any thoughts on this much appreciated

Kevin

Kevin, you'll find Dell won't honour the warranty - batteries not part of the warranty. My Dell laptop battery is just about good enough to shut down if the mains goes off. I think long term you have to either use the battery or leave it out and use the machine on mains, I think the memory effect is significant espec if you (like I do) use it on mains all the time.

SC

Thanks for that. I used to run it on the battery for the first two hours of each morning and then switch the power on, but I don't get that opportunity now. The machine is fine though.

psued11, try running the battery totally flat and then recharging it fully, and repeat a couple of times. Otherwise get a new battery...

Rechargeable batteries generally don't like being used in the way you say, they prefer to be discharged each time (memory effect).

Hi
I've downloaded the update version of ie6 (previously had ie5) from microsoft website. My problem is I can't open any attachment in outlook express. It's there but not highlighted. Any ideas as to how I might overcome this problem.

Many thanks.

Harvey

Harvey, Tools/Options/Security tab and untick "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus."
