Even the England ants are now going home:

I don't know why, but I just seem to love Italy a lot more this morning....and I have this urge to hum the "hot chocolates" theme tune : do you believe in miracles......how about a team that loses twice and goes on to reach the final.........what ?.....hey...stop throwing shoes at me....

ExecLine - 20 Jun 2014 09:15 - 3313 of 6918

England now have zero points from their opening two matches, having also lost to Italy in Manaus.

However, they can still qualify for the knockout rounds - but will need an almighty helping hand from the Azzurri. England need Cesare Prandelli's Italian side to win BOTH their final two fixtures - against Costa Rica tomorrow, and Uruguay next week. Anything else, and the Three Lions simply cannot match the points totals of either of the sides from the Americas.

Then England must beat Costa Rica in their final match - and beat them well - and hope that they can do enough to finish in second place on goal difference.

More than snookers, Hodgson's men need a miracle. But history is not their friend.

No team has ever before arrived at a World Cup, lost their opening two matches, and gone on to qualify through the group stage.

RF - its actually I believe in miracles.

A very appropriate video!

Did you see some of them? I think it might have been the boots!

Dil - 20 Jun 2014 10:36 - 3316 of 6918

The odds on Italy winning twice and England beating Costa Coffee are only about 11/2 so hardly a miracle needed (although England may have to win by 2).

From my Scottish viewpoint I think Uruguay should have been down to ten men towards the end of the first half for a second yellow card offence, but the ref bottled it. The England defence was poor again and the second goal wasn't just Gerrard's fault. I think Hodgson has done a reasonable job with a team of limited talent and see no reason for him to resign.

I blame Cameron for the English miserable demise!

8-)

It started a couple of months before he was born!

Hodgson; a Liverpool level back four and put the Liverpool two in front of them, big surprise goals have been conceded. He bought into the second place finish, forgetting it was the forwards who'd done the job. Suarez helped beat England before the teams arrived in Brazil.

Gerrard's fault - it never is.

Cheers,

Ings to the Bundesliga?

German Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg have been linked with a swoop for Burnley's prolific striker Danny Ings.

The 21-year-old hitman alerted several rival Premier League clubs to his capabilities last season as he fired 26 Championship goals to help the Clarets secure automatic promotion to the top flight.

Honestly Hodgson should have taken Ings out there this tournament.

S0 dissapointing, wouldnt mind but it feels like weve just gone out there and now are coming home.

How on earth is Rooney on £300 grand a week and Suarez only half of that as skinny earlier pointed out.

Checked it out twice again and it was just a pure rank amatuerish performance from us.

We dont deserve anything but to be going home.

The back four were very very poor.

WE knew Pirlo was a threat and promised to look after him, we knew Suarez was threat and promised to look after him, but what did we get.......silch pure silch.

Why wasnt Jones put on both of them and man marked!!!!!!

Got to blame Roy for some lousy tactics. Both of them had the freedom of the park.

He has a better agent?

Big trouble for Liverpool if they lose Suarez, compounded if they don't replace Gerrard.

Off to cheer Costa Rica, just get it over with - unless Hodgson is prepared to change formation.

Cheers.

Yep wouldnt suprise me if we were left with a minute to go against Costa Rica in the last match in a qualyfying position only to see a dog run on the pitch and knock the ball over the line past Joe Hart.

Must admit to feeling flat today.

What a waste and it happens every 4 years and still i buy a load of ale in, get a new update England shirt and a silly hat .........when will I learn.

ps, yep I agree with the agent theory. Even though Rooney as now blackmailed United twice. No chance would he be playing for UNITED next season if I was the boss, Id have flogged him to Chelski for £30 million, no problem.

goldfinger - 20 Jun 2014 16:58 - 3326 of 6918

AND its about time we changed the National Anthem its so dammed boring.

Hardly inspires does it at the beginning of a match in fact it sends me to sleep.

skinny - 20 Jun 2014 17:21 - 3327 of 6918

GF Woooney is on £300k which I said was 50% more than Suarez who is on £200k a week - not half of Woooney's - still way too much!

And talking of the national Anthem....

goldfinger - 20 Jun 2014 17:51 - 3328 of 6918

Well Swarez salary is more like what should be paid rather than Rooneys pathetic £300 grand for an ordinary player...........past his best.
