How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Bak

seems to have a big forehand but doent use it much, there again on grass the serve is going to be enough - he hasnt lost a point when he has got his first serve in and only lost 4 points 4 games and 2 of them doubles!!!

system still playing up - suspect it is a problem with my broadband so not trading for a while, just watching the tennis

1st set to Karlovic.
I was keeping a note on the change in odds throughout that 1st set. Odds dropped considerably when he broke the 1st game but it seemed that the odds since then had already taken into account that the set was a mere formality.
When he finally bagged that last game to seal the set it only moved 3 ticks.

Hi all

just backed taylor in the darts at 7.0 when 7-1 down - now back to 7-3 - when to green?

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 14:24 - 3325 of 10502

Green at 2.2 on the darts :-)

Anyone trading the tennis final?

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:29 - 3326 of 10502

Just switched onto the tennis. All going to service. Perfect trading conditions!

Bak

roddick had 3 break points in the first game and failed to take them - could well be 2 or 3 tie breaks to decide this match

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:39 - 3328 of 10502

Steve

I agree with you. It's going to be a game of converting those few break points and the tie breaker

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:44 - 3329 of 10502

Steve, Amazing movement in odds when Karlo did a double fault in that game - down by 7 ticks on Roddick side!

Just turned back to the darts.

Part went 10-6 up, first to 11 and was at 1.05. At that point i was glad i had greened up when i did! Taylor comes back to win 11-10 and i wish id waited lol

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:52 - 3331 of 10502

Just went green on the tennis myself

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 14:55 - 3332 of 10502

Steve,

BTW, The draw for Wimbledon is this Thursday

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 14:58 - 3333 of 10502

Thanks for that bakko

maybe worth watching to see if any value can be made from the draw

bakko - 12 Jun 2005 15:02 - 3334 of 10502

I've been trawling around for some value and have come up with some very interesting stats which I'll post up later

kernow - 12 Jun 2005 17:35 - 3335 of 10502

Button on pole in Canada yet still 11/12 to win! If he gets to the first corner first I'll be green straight away surely.

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 17:37 - 3336 of 10502

Kernow

not a big F1 fan but i assume it is because he has not finished in the points all season which i guess means the car has been unreliable. if that is the case i would be looking to get green early if you can

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 17:43 - 3337 of 10502

Kernow

just had a look at a few of the other markets. Button is 1.45/1.52 to finish the race and more interestingly 1.82/1.86 to be leading after 1 lap

kernow - 12 Jun 2005 17:46 - 3338 of 10502

Agree 100% although their race ban was partly the problem.

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 18:02 - 3339 of 10502

Button appears to have gear box probs on the warm up lap Kernow

Fundamentalist - 12 Jun 2005 18:10 - 3340 of 10502

Kernow

hope you managed to get out without too much of a hit

kernow - 12 Jun 2005 18:16 - 3341 of 10502

70 lap race ...but initial plan gone wrong
