THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Why would you want the lesser spotted millibandus in power?

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2013 09:33 - 33376 of 81564

Because he is more appealing than the alternatives who ponce about without disconnect from the majority of voters.

Stan - 27 Nov 2013 10:07 - 33377 of 81564

If "you" want do something "practical" about "low wage rip-off Britain" then here's one thing that you can do:

I am aware this might be a time of year when books may be on the purchase list. Don't know if you have heard about Hive Books - they supply books like Amazon - but give a proportion to local book shops. Their web address is www.hive.co.uk. There is free delivery or you can pick them up from your local book shop. I have found them to be efficient and helpful.

If you can forward this email to anyone who might be interested that would be great.

Max if you lived up North youd know why we want milly in.

All this so called feel good factor and the economy is getting better and things are looking up, well it hasnt hit us in Yorkshire yet, i was at a meeting of the local Chamber Of Commerce last wed and it was all doom and gloom. The talk at the pub after was so depressing.

I accept that places like london and in general the south is getting better but theirs no signs here at all.

Stan - 27 Nov 2013 10:50 - 33380 of 81564

With all respects chaps, These comparisons are pretty irrelevant this far away from an election.

Chris Carson - 27 Nov 2013 11:03 - 33381 of 81564

Correct Stanley.

Gf - Who is your member of Parliament for Holmfirth?

The biggest issue in your area trawling through the web would be the objection to a William Hill Betting Shop.

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2013 12:41 - 33382 of 81564

Stan.

Yes.

But it is nice to see Hays and Cynic noses being rubbed into them.

================

But I will leave the country if they reverse and show a conservative lead.

But don't worry I will come back

rubbish sticky ...... it may not yet have reached hull and Hartlepool (is that still Yorkshire?), but certainly h'gate is pulling out of the doldrums .... and of course my son has already saved one worsted mill by buying a new suit!

Haystack - 27 Nov 2013 15:12 - 33385 of 81564

Good of him to buy British, I usually buy Italian. Let the mills close and buy cloth from the far East. Pretty soon the new Asia will be Africa. China is investing heavily there.

aldwickk - 27 Nov 2013 15:28 - 33386 of 81564

China is mainly investing in oil & mining in Africa , not manufacturing

aldwickk - 27 Nov 2013 15:34 - 33387 of 81564

cynic

i'm afraid i see no natural let alone charismatic leader anywhere

Your forgeting Boris

MaxK - 27 Nov 2013 15:35 - 33388 of 81564

cynic - 27 Nov 2013 15:41 - 33389 of 81564

ah, good old boris ..... a great character and assuredly far from being the fool he likes to portray, but therein lies the problem for him as a potential leader ...... lacks gravitas eh what old chap

goldfinger - 27 Nov 2013 15:41 - 33390 of 81564

Chris a chap called Mcartney Tory.

Dont rate him......... that bookies has been given planning permision by Kirklees Council but I cant see it going ahead too many snobs here protesting against it.

Dont forget this is "last of the summer wine country" and a lot of incomers hate the tourists who come around off coaches.

Even though the the sit com has stopped its full everyday of a 7 day week with holiday makers from all over the world.

Twice Ive had coach loads come up to my house door (japanese) thinking it was some kind of museum.

Bloody nusiance.

Property prices here are sky high because of the tourist factor.

Strange situation though at local councils because of the boundarys.

cynic - 27 Nov 2013 15:42 - 33391 of 81564

hays - british mills still make some of the finest worsteds and similar, alongside the Italians ..... i'm delighted that his tailor favours locals mills, and not just for the country (county) tweeds

cynic - 27 Nov 2013 15:44 - 33392 of 81564

so the locals hate tourists do they? ..... sort of understandable, but they sure as hell don't hate the pennies the spend in the local economy

goldfinger - 27 Nov 2013 15:44 - 33393 of 81564

Cyners, not rubbish recovery hasnt taken place here in this neck of the woods. all you have to do is buy the local papers on a wednesday when its jobs day in the papers and instead of 7 pages 2007 just half a page now with crap part time jobs advertised.

goldfinger - 27 Nov 2013 15:47 - 33394 of 81564

Cyners funny lot up here, really snobish.

A lot detest the tourists but I dont.

I even met my other half when she was on a coach trip up here.
