required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Problem is Oakapples lots of former English fans dont support the National team anymore and just watch their favoutite team usualy in the premiership.

Theyve had enough over the years and just dismiss the National Team and have nothing to do with them.

Somehow we have to get more english players per team playing in the premiership but would this lead to falling standards (not enough fotop foreign players) none entry to the Champions league etc etc.

Its a big headach and a mess.

We are a relatively small island off of Europe.. think about it.

i went to support a friend who was having a trial for West Ham in 1961 - he was the best footballer I ever played with and had a long spell playing for Dagenham as an amatuer. He was on the pitch for around two minutes because there were more than 50 boys having a trial. I firmly believe that talent is still out there to-day but has no hope because of the money nonsense and the cancer over 30 years of imported players. We could get back to supporting our local teams and England. I have supported Chelsea for 45 years and long for the days of Osgood, Harris, Bonetti, Charlie Cook, Tambling, Venables, etc etc - all British and with a crowd of 60,000 regularly. Someone once said "Money is the route of all evil" How true in this case when again we come home full of sadness and hard luck.

"We are a relatively small island off of Europe". It's got bugger all to do with that!

England has a population roughly the same size as France, and larger than Spain's, Italy's and the Netherland's. So how come they've all done OK in recent years?

Stan - 23 Jun 2014 10:18 - 3359 of 6918

Actually OA, it's the "Pursuit" of money that is the route of all evil but I know what you mean.

Thank god Wimbledon starts in about 5 minutes .......Watch some real sport.

skinny - 23 Jun 2014 12:39 - 3361 of 6918

Agreed

Stan - 23 Jun 2014 13:02 - 3362 of 6918

So if you two feel like that what are you doing on a football thread? -):

.. bail out, begone, book [slang], bugger off [British slang], bug off, bug out, buzz (off), clear off [chiefly British], clear out, cut out, depart, dig out, exit, get, get off, go off, move, pack (up or off), part, peel off, pike (out or off), pull out, push off, push on, quit, run along, sally (forth), scarper [British], shove (off), step (along), take off, go, walk out.. -):

Stan, try this link

jimmy b - 23 Jun 2014 15:10 - 3364 of 6918

Stan, hop it !! ........ I think you missed that one ..

KidA - 23 Jun 2014 15:32 - 3365 of 6918

Foreign players have been in the English leagues for a while; from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. England have been mixed during that time.

Cheers,
KidA

goldfinger - 23 Jun 2014 16:46 - 3366 of 6918

Mixed??? thats debatable kidA. I think were at our lowest point now and dropping further back.

A radical plan (like belgiums a few years back) as to be put in place and implemented.

You know whats going to happen dont you, 1 game into the Premiership season and all will be forgotten as usual.

This country havent had a World Class player since Gazza, all this talk of Gerrard, Rooney etc etc being World Class is total tosh. Would they get into a World 11......... not a cat in hells chance.

Wouldnt even get into Worlds top 75 if I were judging.

We have numptys running and broadcasting Footbal in this country, until we sort that out we will be 'has beens' for years to come.

Chris Carson - 23 Jun 2014 18:24 - 3367 of 6918

Problem is England don't play at home every other week. Rarely spend enough time together as a squad, friendlies are meaningless so Prem managers are reluctant (Fergie did it for years, the twat.) to release them in case of injury.

Just hope Woy plays all the youngsters tom night.

GF.

Stop grumbling.

Give them skirts and sign them up for the girls league!

goldfinger - 24 Jun 2014 02:24 - 3370 of 6918

PATHETIC..............

Three England players appear in a ranking of the richest 10 players taking part in the World Cup. This makes England the strongest performer in the tournament’s wealth league. Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard appear in the top 10, which was compiled by Wealth-X. The Guardian.......................ends

wouldnt pay any of them peanuts.

Stan - 24 Jun 2014 07:07 - 3371 of 6918

It's called market forces chaps.. don't you just love it -):

Oakapples142 - 24 Jun 2014 08:08 - 3372 of 6918

Now your talking my language Goldfinger - mind you if we had a GB team we could incluide - Gareth Bale, and ..................?. Mind you at least he would also be in the top 10 you so correctly list.
Dont you just hate "market forces" as a so called reason - Give all agents a "Red" card and it might help to bring some sense to the out of hand money, money, money which has ruined the game.

goldfinger - 24 Jun 2014 08:21 - 3373 of 6918

Well Oak it certainly turned me against Rooney when he held the club to ransom a SECOND time. No way would he be at Old Trafford if I was the boss, Id have snapped Chelseas hand off at £30 million and said good luck I hope you enjoy paying a now moderate footballer £300 grand per week.

goldfinger - 24 Jun 2014 08:22 - 3374 of 6918

Strange isnt it well not strange but silly, if we lose to Costa Rica today we will probably be the worst performing team at the World Cup BUT have 3 of the top 10 paid players in the World Cup!!!!!!!!!!!!! wheres the logic in that?.
