How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

A little late because property prices are now most possibly 'at the top' or some other reason?

Yes, just that property prices are so richly valued at the moment. Serious investors just won't be interested in it IMO.
However, I think the whole exchange concept has much further to run over all. I can see the future bringing a whole host of new ideas to the market.

Hi I normally lurk and read with interest the comments made. I have a question and apologies if it seems simple but it seems like it cannot be right.
On the Wimbledon tennis betting with betfair you can currently back Grosjean at 110 to win but can lay at 70 in the book to win without Federer. So already that would be in the money if you covered both sides although presumably you would have to use a lot of capital at these prices.
Thanks

The golfer
welcome to the thread - any thoughts on the us open this week?
say for example you back grosjean in the outright market and lay him in the without federer market you are ok unless federer beats grosjean in the final, at which stage you will have a huge liability

Thank you for that I thought it was to easy. Will have to wait and see which half of the draw they both get drawn in. Still think he should get through the first 2 or 3 rounds and then the opportunity may open up.
As far as the golf is concerned it is always to difficult to call the outright winner but how about Montgomerie as an each way in view of all the problems he had in qualifying for the US Open? Stranger things happen in sport.

Golfer,
A warm welcome to the thread from me too. Hope to see you on here more often.
Totally agree with Fundy.
Fundy,
Notice how Grosjean's odds have drifted out big time. Other's outside this thread obviously haven't got a clue unless we're wrong ?? Well, I picked up a few more at 120.
I'm sure the draw will have a drastic effect on some of the odds. Will make a comparison before and after the draw.

Hi Golfer and welcome from me also.
Just been looking at US open. I can't believe David Howell's odds @ 170. Should be an easy green up after the cut imho. Personaly I'd lay Monty if I had enough margin. Time will tell.

i like your logic - ive taken some howell at 290 to win and 30 to finish top 5
other bets so far: Jiminez 110, Tim Clark 170
