How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I guess I should know this. If I back a horse running today and it is declared a non runner later today, will I get my money back.

Jeff, It's called a rule four. On Betfair you will see the reduction factors in each market. No worries.

Fundy, did the odds change much on the Tennis after the draw? I am in panic mode doing some recording for a company at the moment and can't get access to Betfair for today.

Thanks Steve for posting up the full Wimbledon draw.
Will check it out and will post up thoughts later.
I see that Grosjean and Antic odds have shortened whilst Karlovic who'll likely to play Roddick in the 2nd round drifting

I meant to record it but have been dumped on today so I am pretty much out of the loop today. Would be really interested in seeing the pre and post draw figures.

Initial thoughts on the mens draw:
First quarter
Dominated by federer, the rest of the quarter looks very weak to me - who hell play in the quarters is up for grabs
Second Quarter
A much tougher quarter with the top half looking like Hewitt vs Dent in the fourth round. the bottom half has provided Safin with a tough draw including Scrichapan in he first round, Phillipoussis in the second round and then Ancic in the fourth round
Third quarter
Looks the weakest quarter to me (good news for young Andrew Murray) and contains a lot of clay court players. likely 4th round matches will be nalbandian vs nadal and canas vs johanson though anything could happen in this quarter
Fourth quarter
Roddick got the draw no one wanted having to face Karlovic in the second round. The winner of that should progress to the quarters where the opponent could well be the winner of a fourth round match between Henman and Grosjean (Roddick vs Grosjean it is then!)
To me the best value to be had maybe in trying to find who will emerge out of the third quarter as the route to the semis in this quarter is by far the easiest - finding who it will be is a bit harder

All these calculations when we know the best bet is to Lay Henman.

ill let him win his first couple of matches and let the hype get going before i ratchet up the lay on Henman.
To win wimbledon he will have to win 7 matches, the last 4 likely to Grosjean/Roddick/3rd qtr winner/Federer - cant see him winning the first of them so will be laying after round 3!!!

Thanks again Steve for your analysis. Saves me doing it.
Apologies for being thick but how do I get images onto this post. I've saved betfair screens of pre and post draw odds and would like to post these up. I have paint shop pro but not used it before. Do I need other image manipulating software?

Bakko,
I think you need to host then on a web space first. If you send them to me via internal mail I can get them posted this afternoon.

Bakko, as cunningham says, you need to put them on a website first.
You can get your own free site here:
http://uk.geocities.yahoo.com/
I use mine just to park images etc and then direct other people to them. I've never bothered to create a home page, but that doesn't matter.
