Assad's speach today was very interesting. It looks as though he has missed the chance to fix Syria's problems and they will get more demos, especially from Friday. He was too vague about changes.

One item went largely unnoticed. He said that the Arab world will not be the same place very soon. The attitude of Arab nations to the Palestine problem will change from one of consessions to demanding what is right.

The Libyan rebels are OK.

Hague had ridden to the rescue.

He has expelled 5 Gaddafi diplomats from London.

The version I heared was translated slightly differently. Where this one says "So we will not be going to give up our rights in Palestine", the other one said "So we will not give any more consessions on Palestine".

UK questions Libyan foreign minister

Libyan Foreign Minister Moussa Koussa has been questioned by officials after arriving in the UK unexpectedly late on Wednesday.

He flew in from Tunisia. The UK Foreign Office said he was "no longer willing" to work for Colonel Gaddafi.

However a Libyan spokesman denied that Mr Moussa had defected and said he was on a diplomatic mission.

it is almost certain that Koussa has indeed defected - i wonder if he had already been recruited and was now being pulled in for his own safety ..... if so, there will assuredly be an awful lot of good intelligence info to be gleaned .... however, i'm not sure how much effect his defection will have on weakening MG's grip and the loyalty of his supporters
