Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Carney got the podium out and steadied the ship with a few words about the BofE's strength and efforts already put in place.

ExecLine - 24 Jun 2016 09:13 - 3417 of 12628

I haven't met up with the neighbours to say, "Well it was YOU lot who said 'Blah blah blah', so that's why I voted for Out!" and to discuss, "What the hell have we all done? Did you get your Euros last night? Etc, etc."

:-)

I've been looking for stocks during the last few weeks which 'closely follows market sentiment'.

One of the best is 'SJP'
I also think the housebuilders are looking a bit too cheap as are the banks.

When we start doing deals to steady relationships with our friends in the EU block, I think things are going to be pretty much the same as before. We still need to have a fairly free movement of peoples because of our own expats in France, Spain and elsewhere.

And who is going to be washing my car? OMG! Just who will be washing my car? The guys do such a fantastic job and neither do they steal my mobile phone in the glove compartment either.

A big well done to the believers , honestly thought I would wake up to remain , I also expected some shennanigans from Dave but he's gone , I totally put it down to him and the constant threats which i think got peoples backs up , well done to those MP's who stuck their necks out too .

Great result. The tricky bit is just beginning.

I've picked up more SL. @ 292p, looking for others, so many to choose from but not enough funds to buy all I want. selectivity is the name of the game.

Haystack - 24 Jun 2016 10:08 - 3428 of 12628

Spain has proposed "shared sovereignty" over Gibraltar, the strategically important British Oversea Territory which shares its northern border with Spain.

VICTIM - 24 Jun 2016 10:10 - 3429 of 12628

Can't we have a referendum on that Hays .

MaxK - 24 Jun 2016 10:16 - 3430 of 12628

Depends on the details re spain/gib, but it could be a way forward.

required field - 24 Jun 2016 10:24 - 3431 of 12628

Just winding the Scots up....might have a referendum as to whether the other home nations allow them to remain in the UK......

VICTIM - 24 Jun 2016 10:25 - 3432 of 12628

Whether you like Trump or hate him in his BBC , Brexit is a great thing , he's not far off . At Turnberry .

required field - 24 Jun 2016 10:26 - 3433 of 12628

Anyway : as far as DC is concerned ; we have gone from Bucks Fizz/making your mind up to the Brotherhood of man....save all your kisses for me.....

mentor - 24 Jun 2016 10:29 - 3434 of 12628

Strange but true

REFERENDUM

LEAVE won the race

Now is time to face the Market as expected not happy with the results, but that is another matter.

I fought this campaign on the leave side and I was surprised during the time by the polls mainly in favour of remain, yet when reading many financial threads (this one included) and talking to people on the street (naturally that was not in Northern Ireland or Gibraltar), was given me a 10 v 3 in favour to LEAVE.

hangon - 24 Jun 2016 11:07 - 3435 of 12628

Required Field:- It's a thought - England is supplying a lot of the Support ( and money), yet we are being "Rubbished" at every opportunity, probably by a Minority of Scots..... but nevertheless quite a loud minority - on which several Politicians have built their careers.
As soon as there is a split, that will silence them . . . and none too soon IMHO.

Sadly for those that prefer to be joined, by culture, land-borders, etc. will have to put up with whatever the new-wave of Politicians can muster.

Britain:
Possibly, ( but I don't know ), something similar is happening with confirmed BREXIT . . . . I await to hear from the many Overseas "Experts" that might attempt to regain our friendship - as this Exit has shown they backed the wrong side. Those faces that we've seen endlessly spouting on the UK-Media ( to Remain), will also have to readjust their clothes . . . . not easy . . . so we may see a Political churning of Parties, as the "What Next" camps merge.
Borris looks like the "best" gatekeeper for PM ( er, IMHO), as he's know throughout the World . . . and will have Stability written all-over . . . but he'll be on a stout leash to prevent Mouth opening . . . until such time as someone like M.Gove can settle into the 2017-Calm.

It's exciting . . . . and look at the fools in Markets . . . . A result that was ever 50-50 has created panic amongst the flippers . . . . the lull after the Storm will show us who our friends are . . . and maybe a joining of like-minds across Seas and Oceans . . . as modern communications and trade-routes mean we could have a Trans Trade T... ( I'll ask anyone reading thus far to suggest a T-word, so the New Order can be known as TTT.)
-OR- suggest another 3/4 Letter-Group -?

Investments . . . I see LLOY, Taylor Wimpey, and some other Housebuilders are looking a bit sick - is this because the Market thinks there will be Zero-need for house buying? How silly.
