Mediwatch - Watch them rocket in 2005 !!! (MDW)

overgrowth - 12 May 2005 22:21

Mediwatch is a small company destined to become a much bigger fish by the time this year is out. Mediwatch are already a market leader in urological medical diagnostics equipement and are currently exporting their products throughout the UK, Canada, Europe, India and Japan. That doesn't leave much of the globe left for them to capture - until you remember the good ol' US and China. These are the two massive markets which are destined to be added to MDW's export client portfolio by the end of 2005.

The company is currently heavily undervalued. This is probably because Mediwatch's speciality is not a very glamourous business to be in as their equipment is used extensively to diagnose prostate cancer in men and other nasty urological conditions affecting both men and women. However, don't let that put you off investing in these guys. This is big business and is growing at an exponential rate as more and more people globally become health-aware as they get older.

Mediwatch normally supply their products through to global markets via distribution agreements. They already have the best of distribution partners in the well known US medical distributor CR Bard who supply Canada and Europe and GE Medical who supply Japan. The UK business is handled by Mediwatch's own dedicated sales team.

US FDA approval was gained for MDW's products at the start of last year, however a whole year of US legal wrangling meant that they were unable to seek a suitable partner for the crucial distribution agreement until the start of this year. This distribution agreement is expected by the board to have a "significant effect" on the share price so they are reluctant to give any clues as to when it will be signed, sealed and delivered. The general consensus is that this US distribution agreement will be announced in July/August. In China and Hong Kong, MDW have done things the other way round. They have set up distribution agreements with major Asian medical equipment distributors and have stock already out there waiting to sell into the markets - all they are waiting for is SDA approval (which is a "rubber stamp") from the Chinese authorities - this can take anything up to 12 months to come through and MDW applied during Autumn 2004 - so even more good news coming soon this year. Epidemiological data from British Association of Urology conference last year: On average 30-45% of all men between the age of 50 and 70 have at least one PSA test per year in the US / Italy / Australia.

If that's not enough to convince you to invest a few hard earned coppers in MDW, they are also developing a PSA stick test product (PSAWatch) which is revolutionary and causing some excitement in medical circles. This product can also be adapted (at very low cost) for a whole spectrum of medical disciplines from Cardiology to Veterinary Practice! This product is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Philip Stimpson the CEO has said that this product is going to be their "gold mine" - I'm sure it will prove to be ours too.

Just looking at the chart, I think we may see a bit more retracement, assuming there is no news. Think I might have been a bit hasty yesterday, in buying another 10k. Going to give it a few more days before the next top up, looking for 11p. Just hope I don't get stuffed by good news in the meantime.

og,Try to play all sorts of stuff mainly in the 'old time' banjo style ie,clawhammer/frailing.
bit like below but with fiddle and guitar playing along:

mick - Sounds great if you play like Ken Perlman, or maybe you are Ken Perlman..., if so with all those recordings to your name I'm sure that you're well invested in MDW - you'll need to file an RNS for your 3% declaration soon lol!

pth - you could be right, though now all the Mediwatch news is coming together we'll be looking back at the end of the year and saying "pity I didn't accumulate at 14p it was a real bargain then". A slight retracement here will give us more stability going forward - let some of the early profit takers take their dosh and then it's onwards and upwards to the next level.

There's going to be a bit of resistance at 14p also, though I have a feeling that no matter what the price is when the US news breaks it will double in a very short timeframe (hours or days).

I'm curious to see how much our mystery buyer picks up...

og,def.not KP they were just some mp3's i had at hand to explain the type of music i try to play.Tried playing bluegrass style but kept knocking the bridge off with me picks-lol
Are we expecting the announcement of PSAwatch from the BAUS conf.or has it been released already? The window problem has been solved by the way...found an isa tucked away...phew-lol

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 01:00 - 347 of 1497

mick, I bet you several K Mediwatch shares, that you can't play in a pub without someone asking "do you do duelling banjos" aaarrgh. lol!

Didn't you see the poster from BAUS conference programme?

http://bausannualmeeting.org/pdf/p062.pdf

I assume that PSAwatch will feature prominently in the results, though the "official" launch is going to be at BAUS.

I would guess that PSAwatch is in production now, though MDW won't be able to sell it until the US FDA and European EMEA approvals come through.

That was a stroke of luck on the window front, I think I'll check my old ISA's lol!

pth - an interesting bit of L2 analysis from smudge over the road:

"evos are still bidding for stock and have to stay above hoodless brennan on 11.5, wins are the ones selling, although they cannot have many shares as evos have been soaking them up, wins are at 12 then the next mm is 12.5

still looking like a stonking buy being filled"

What price are you hoping for to top up ?

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 11:17 - 349 of 1497

og

Assuming the retracement follows the current trend 11-11.5p is my target and we're getting there. Not particularly happy to see them fall back, but the rush upwards made a small retracement inevitable. If you draw a trend line on the chart the SP should bounce off both support and the trend at 11p.Well, that's the theory, MDW could always stuff me by releasing news. I think Smudge is right regarding EVO, if they were not filling an order they would be back on the Offer.

og, didnt think wins had much, 2 25k buys shifted them to 12.5, think they were trying to be too aggresive

jnknill - 23 Jun 2005 14:38 - 351 of 1497

og, North, it is!

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:40 - 352 of 1497

bugger, looks like my 11p is but a distant dream!!

Not to worry, happy with my current holding.

jnknill - 23 Jun 2005 14:43 - 353 of 1497

pth, Sorry, nothing personal you understand. Rgds.

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 14:46 - 354 of 1497

Looking good now :-)

Unlucky pth - I agreed with your analysis, though it looks as though buying pressure is back again.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:50 - 355 of 1497

jnk, you can't win them all! Actually, it would be nice to win one just now and again. Once Hood have sold up, will be interesting to see what sort of bunfight we get on the Bid. It can only tick up when that happens.

With regard to EVO, there is another possible scenario other than filling an order. Most unlikely, but perhaps they definately know something and are doing a bit of stock piling for greater profits in the not too distant future. Very, very unlikely. Just musing, cos it is a dreadfully slow day. Whatever the reason, it's good for the SP value.

pth

proptrade - 23 Jun 2005 14:51 - 356 of 1497

what is your target here chaps?

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:56 - 357 of 1497

prop

Difficult to say, depends on the Medtronic deal and what sort of revenues that is likely to generate, not to mention China & Hong Kong. I certainly think we can get to 20p, perhaps 25p in fairly short order. The stock is so tightly held that any buying pressure will have an enormous effect on the SP.

jnknill - 23 Jun 2005 15:02 - 358 of 1497

pth, Do you have a "crystal-ball" at your side? You have just summarised the subjects which I was about to put to yourself/og!! Can I assume that we are again, if we ever moved, in a situation where stock is almost non-existent? I ask this, bearing in mind the points which you made. Rgds.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 15:38 - 359 of 1497

jnk

just noticed the 150k buy which must nearly clean out HOOD, so yes judging by recent market activity we should be back at the point where the MMs are going to have to move up the Bid to encourage sellers. If EVO are still engaged in whatever activity they are up to, will likely up the Bid more than the other MMs to achieve their aim. I can only guess where the price will go on release of good news, cos my crystal ball doesn't seem to work that well.

pth

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 16:04 - 360 of 1497

Hood off the offer and on the bid with EVO, wouldn't be surprised to see EVO push up the Offer now if they still need the shares.

pth

smudge1004 - 23 Jun 2005 16:05 - 361 of 1497

pth, stockpiling did cross my mind, however the large t trades over the last couple of weeks, and their eagerness to be out there on their own makes me thing they have a commited buyer

all good stuff

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 16:06 - 362 of 1497

indeed smudge indeed, interesting times we live in!
