Thanks Piptrader, but I didn't really want to install an additional program just to remove another program.
Optimist,
Thanks also, but I've done that as per post 3434 and it's still there. Every time that Outlook Express opens it opens Messenger too.

OK hilary, don't think that would have done the trick anyway - looks like it's for a different messenger service.

I have created a new email account. I have the username etc all done but I'm completely foxed as to how to create a format that automatically shows a coat of arms and the name and address of tbe organization the email will be from. I'm assuming it's something to do with macros but cannot find anything on how to set it up. I use Microsoft Outlook Express. Could anybody offer any guidance, please?

Priscilla, Tools/Options/Signatures tab. Not sure whether you can put an image in there, it would be via the usual <img src="file:///c:/folder/file.jpg"> but you would have to enable HTML outgoing messages and try it.

Jason, I use a 3Com ADSL wireless 11g Firewall router modem - 3CRWE754G72-A and it works fine, obviously don't get 11b as that's slower although the most up to date have 11b and g, and I think there's a new standard just coming out which is even faster.

Jason, just a thought - are you still running windows 98? It's a bit more difficult to set up under W98 I believe.

I finally managed to get rid of Windows Messenger. After all else failed, I found a
link on the Microsoft website showing exactly how to remove it.
Richgit,
Over the last couple of weeks, we have updated all of the computers on the network from ME and W2k to XP Pro. Everything about it really is so much better! On that front, here is a small tip. As you are probably aware, XP can be expensive to buy. If you already have a copy of XP which has been activated elsewhere, there is a crack which
sells on eBay for 3 or 4 which will replace one of the XP files and remove the 30 day activation nag screen. Installing SP2 will necessitate running the crack a 2nd time, so it is probably best left until all of the Windows updates have been installed.

much as I hate to be the dissenting voice ! or do I ;-), I have concerns about both of Hils tips. Regarding the first one why do you want to get rid of Windows messenger? its not normally nescessary to remove this and it can cause problems with other programs. Its misuse can be handled without it being removed.
Regarding the second one, if your going to crack xp why pay when it can be done for free with a bit (alright a lot) or searching .....

I've a problem with Sharescope EOD updating. The files download but at the end of the download Sharescope crashes without updating my Sharescope database. The error message is 0000:70737076 which is one the Sharescope techies don't recognise. They've been working on this problem for three days now and have been unable to come up with a solution. Any suggestions that I can put to Sharescope when they come back to me this morning would be welcome. I'm on WIN 98 with an ISDN/Onspeed connection.
