Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

The vote wasnt about Red Or Blue. It was about keepıng a modıcum of a country we know wether you are from the shıres or an ınner cıty.

Well Freda you told us all the immigrants would vote Remain but as a big Leave vote came from the Midlands which i would presume is large on Immigrants , you got that wrong . You said the markets favoured the Remain , you bragged about the betting in favour of Remain . Then YOU yes YOU had an oppertunity to vote for Remain , but did you . The last person on here to moan is YOU .

A bit like Europe in 1945 after “winning” WW2 and then looking around at the carnage.

A new Conservative leader Freda, bring it on! Hope Jezza stays but if the Labour Party keep him they are doomed. We need a strong govt and a credible opposition. Independence Day! Fabulous.

A Pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has been victorious in some way. However, the heavy toll negates any sense of achievement or profit. Another term for this would be "hollow victory".

I suppose that if Scotland leaves the Union we can deport the Jocks and erect a hard border. The Romans had the right idea.

More seriously, can you imagine Scotland with falling oil prices.
Nicola said she would be bringing in legislation to leave in the event that the Scottish Parliament wanted a referendum. She would want a referendum during the two year period that it will take us to leave. The reason for that is that it would then be Scotland staying in the EU rather than Scotland joining the EU which is what it would be after the two years.
There are a couple of problems with that. Firstly she has lost her majority in the Scottish Parliament and it would vote down her ideas. Secondly, the EU has previously made it clear that it would regard Scotland as joining irrespective of when it happened. It looks like she is doing a bit of grandstanding.

There is a petition with 100,000 signatures for a second referendum on the EU. Fat chance of that!

Maybe the EU will offer lots of concession, saying "please stay, we didn't mean it".
