Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

qwento,

re post 3444 where you say:

'I really do not understand why it is so difficult for you to add new admissions to your intraday chart stock list.

Surely if you compare epic codes in your database from one day to the next then they will be detected. It's not rocket science !

If it were that easy, don't you think we'd have done that already?

With the greatest respect Jonathan, when a stock is reported to you it is up and running in no time.

Quite what is the difference between someone reporting a missing stock and you finding it for yourself ?

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 03 Aug 2005 14:57 - 3456 of 7315

qwento,

We have a table listing 40,000 securities. We only want to take intraday snapshots of a small subset of those (about 3500 stocks). If we snapshot all of them then the amount of data stored would be in the tens of gigabytes.

New entries to that table more often than not are not wanted for intraday purposes.

As such, your magical method of:
'Surely if you compare epic codes in your database from one day to the next then they will be detected. It's not rocket science !'

falls on its arse and will cause problems for us.

This is why we don't do that.

How to do it has been discussed at length by a number of us and as yet we haven't come up with a satisfactory solution. As soon as we do come up with a solution, it'll be put in place.

OK Jonathan, thanks for the reply.

Here at my rocket laboratory I will post new admissions each day for you - I don't miss many.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 03 Aug 2005 15:11 - 3458 of 7315

qwento,

The lists you send are very useful for us, and I'm going to try and get a workable solution to this within the next few weeks, it isn't an acceptable situation at the moment.

Hi qwento,

I've kicked off intraday charts for the epics on your list ;-)

Cheers, James.

What is interesting is that your end of day data download, although not fit for man nor beast in it's current form, does however contain new stock admissions on the day of admission.

Perhaps the logic used to extract the 2900 odd items from your database could be utilised as the basis for the comparison ?

Only a suggestion !

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 03 Aug 2005 15:40 - 3461 of 7315

qwento,

I'll take a dive into that code and see how it works.

Kayak - 03 Aug 2005 16:56 - 3462 of 7315

Indeed it is just the intraday charts that are not working. If the same logic that applies to day charts, level 2, quotes, etc. etc. can be used for intraday charts then you've done it.

IanT (MoneyAM)

wrt your answer (post 3443) in answer to my post 3442, this could take forever. i can do as you ask tomorrow morning on the offending pc ( at work ) but will not be able to see any reply til i get home late tomorrow night.

the odd thing is, that on the opening thread page i can now see that there are unread posts ( to date ),( whereas i only saw the last poster was tuesday until today), but accessing any thread only DISPLAYS posts up to the time the problem began.

Cheers, Madison

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Aug 2005 07:29 - 3468 of 7315

Madison,

Madison, I have your E mail, but can you do the following if this happens as the shot you have sent me is just a link. Press on print screen on your keyboard and then right click in an E mail and select paste - this should give a current screen shot which you can then ssend over to me,

Superrod,

Let me know how you get on.

Mega,

Whats the company name do you mean Rolls Royce (RR.)? I will take a look,

Ian

Madison,

When you're viewing the INDU chart after close of business (22:00), can you ensure that the 'display current intraday price' option isn't ticked?

I think that's the cause of the graphs being wierd...

Can you see if that cures the problem?
