Scussy - Have a look at AVG Grisoft a/v and firewall. Not so many bells and whistles but it's cheaper and uses fewer resources.

Help please,
I am an ntlworld.com user(broadband) . When I open up outlook express I get a logon window come up fron ntl asking for user name and password those are both correct but the server in the window is not. it comes up as an old server 127.0.0.0.1 not ntlworld.com as it should be.
ntl have told me how to get rid of it and put the new server in and then it works fine. I get all my emails etc. If i switch off the computer the next time I switch on and go to OutExp it comes up with the old 127.0.0.01 again . I went on to ntl again and they now say its Mcafee viruscan( I recently installed Mcafee internet security suite). I got onto Mcafee and they said it is the spamkiller and to switch it off. Did this ,but it still comes back127.0.0.0.1. help if anyone can ..

SEADOG, 127.0.0.1 is another name for your own computer. The reason it is being set to that is that the virus/spam software is asking for emails to be routed to it, i.e. back to your computer, and it will then send them on after spam/virus checking. If your virus/spam software is enabled it will keep setting it back to 127.0.0.1. Do you not want it enabled? I think your problem is more that you need to set your NTL server details in McAfee so that it knows where to get and deliver mail. It will then handle the communication with Outlook Express for you and 127.0.0.1 is correct since both McAfee and Outlook are on the same computer.

Hi all,
Having a problem when loading up webpages, they keep paging themselves up and down regardless of what I'm telling them to do. Anyone come across this before and knows how to fix it? Driving me nuts!

Sounds like a mouse battery problem affecting the 'scroll' to me. Try changing the battery.
eg, As mentioned

Can one of you clever computer bunnies help this one who's not so clever?
I need to create a document and send it by email as an attachment but it
is vital that is can only be read by the recipient and cannot be changed or
altered. What's the best way to do it and how?
Thanks Bun.

Maybe it depends on what version of Word... I have Word 2002. Look in Help for password and encryption.
