Who's cooking breakfast on Crimbles Day? Just because it's a holiday I still have to eat.

little woman - 23 Dec 2003 16:02 - 3459 of 23498

Back in time - I need to find some time to unload the car. Bought myself my second christmas pressy! I had rather a large number of points collected over the last year so I used them towards a TFT TV special offer from Sainsbury (last one in stock!)

poped into butchers for the some eggs, to find the queque half way out into the car park. Just as well the Freezer is already full! Need a drink now........

little willie - 23 Dec 2003 20:58 - 3460 of 23498

Socs...I'm on duty in the caff-gaff over the Xmas evening, s'pose its the dog watch period but someone might be in need of a steak & kidney pie.

Bought our Xmas joint today, a 4 kilo complete prime-beef fillet, cost Rand 101
just over 8 !!
Swamp it down with a superb SA '87 Pinotage and the odd nip of 20 yr old KWV SA brandy that recently won the best brandy in the world award, beating all the French cognacs/armangnacs as well.

TIM...is me like me over the wotsit at being a TIGGY, luvvly jubbly....

ms.lw. So your butcher is Catholic eh, fancy his holiness being in the queue, you never know who your going to bump into..

Socrates - 23 Dec 2003 22:26 - 3461 of 23498

Hi LW, good to see someone still popping into the cafe.

All the stores around here seem to be chaotic with last minute buying. I've had a change of meat this Christmas too. A nice big chunk of Gloucester Old Spot Pork. Are you sure that your (very cheap) prime beef is not Wildebeeste, I've read that there is a hot trade in wild meat over there, every thing from Gnu to elephant.

What about Brussels Sprouts, it's not Christmas dinner without them? Even if you hate them you have to have them!

I'll pop in on the odd occasion over the holiday, I'm not going anywhere so I will need the diversion. We probably won't hear much from the ladies, too busy washing up and such like!

This_is_me - 24 Dec 2003 00:12 - 3462 of 23498

Yes, LW, I'm not too old to play TIG and win!

Socrates - 24 Dec 2003 07:50 - 3463 of 23498

Since there are no staff around, would you believe they wanted time off just because it's Christmas, I'll make the breakfast. It's full heart attack on a plate for me, anyone else game for it?

Bucks Fizz for starters OK?

jeffmack - 24 Dec 2003 08:55 - 3464 of 23498

I guess most of you have been around the shops the last couple of days, notice anything....... there is not one happy smiling face out there. Everyone is so miserable

Socrates - 24 Dec 2003 09:32 - 3465 of 23498

Jeffmack
You must have missed me because I was smiling. So was her-indoors. Elevenses anyone?

stockbunny - 24 Dec 2003 09:35 - 3466 of 23498

stockbunny - 24 Dec 2003 10:36 - 3468 of 23498

Dunno - probably the pooch is keeping hold of it.
See Us Ladies are in 3 of the top 5 places in the competition
but it is the season of good will so I wont rub it in chaps...
((Hee-hee...))

Socrates - 24 Dec 2003 10:36 - 3469 of 23498

stockers
My relatives are bearable because they are 200 miles away, (I don't really mean that).
Roast? The tin of beans is already open because after a few drinks the tin opener is a disaster area.
Pressies, wrapped? Why wrap a new iron, it's in a box for goodness sake!
Tree?
BOOZE - now you're talking.

stockbunny - 24 Dec 2003 10:44 - 3470 of 23498

stockbunny - 24 Dec 2003 11:19 - 3471 of 23498

jeffmack - 24 Dec 2003 12:33 - 3472 of 23498

little woman - 24 Dec 2003 12:44 - 3473 of 23498

Jeffmack - I presume you will head home about 1pm.

I've got load of things that I'm supposed to do, but I just have no motivation. I've got to send a chq & some paperwork for a rights issue which needs to get their by the 30th. Should do it today I suppose..........

jeffmack - 24 Dec 2003 14:03 - 3474 of 23498

little woman
I am still here. I have sent all my staff home while I hold the fort

little willie - 24 Dec 2003 14:15 - 3475 of 23498

Who are you making tea for at this time of day, surely [?] the bank are at the gin & it parties.
Stick a funny hat on your bonce, a whistle thingy in your norf & sarf, have another mince pie and relax in the caff.
No frenzy here, all civilised and ready to eat, as Socs so nicely puts it, our wilderbeest.
Do you know I could have swore I heard that you've mad cow in the UK but none over here, tee hee except I also heard Mrs Thatcher [I don't recognise all that Sir, Lord, Lady crap] is Christmassing over here.

Have a great Yuletide everyone....

jeffmack - 24 Dec 2003 14:17 - 3476 of 23498

LW
Been to the pub already for a few. Now sitting here on my tod with a posh coffee and a mince pie

Socrates - 24 Dec 2003 15:35 - 3477 of 23498

little willie
I don't think we have any mad cow over here any more, the US have just said they have some though.

I have decided, in the absence of the canine proprietor, to keep the cafe open over Christmas. I thought it would be convivial for people to pop in for a quiet drink away from the frenzy of families and friends. A little haven of peace and tranquility is just what the doctor ordered at such times.
