If Oldog and calfy wish to trade this week, I'll make a special one-off concession and allow them to post up until 6pm tonight so as to try and recapture the spirit of the game and get all players competing. In the meantime, I'll update the spreadsheet and try to get an updated table to view sometime tomorrow.

I think that the game should officially end at 4:35pm on Friday 30th May unless anybody feels to the contrary.

Trading Game Rules

1. This is a weekly Ftse shares stock picking Game.
2. Everyone begins with 50,000 of which you can invest in up to 3 separate stocks. You can invest all in just one stock or split your funds however you desire.
3. You may go long or short on a stock. You post all trades on the trading thread stating epic and how much you want to invest either long or short. GoldDog will take care of the rest.
4. If you long (l) a stock you will buy the share at the offer price and sell at the bid price based on Moneyam prices.
5. If you short a stock (s) you will buy the share at the bid price and sell at the offer price based on Moneyam prices. In other words you want the share price to drop.
6. Because this is a weekly game you must hold your investments for the entire working week before you can make new trades. At the end of Friday 4:30pm you can sell your current stocks, and/or buy new stocks.
7. You must sell the full quantity of shares in each stock.
8. If you buy more shares in a stock you already have, it will be classed as a new trade and will not be added to an existing stock.
9. All new trades must be posted on the trading thread before Sunday 12pm Noon. Any trades after this time will be ignored.
10. If a stock is suspended then your trade in this stock is also put on hold. You cannot short a stock knowing that it will be suspended or bankrupt ect as stated maybe in a news report during the weekend, this constitutes cheating!
11. GoldDog will update the new trades on Sunday evenings and you may view your new trades in your table. The Leaderboard will also be updated.
12. When GoldDog gets chance he will update tables and leaderboards during the week.
13. This initial Game will run for 8 weeks and please be aware that GoldDog can make mistakes so keep track of your own trades and transactions. And please ask any questions.
14. There is no prize just the honour of winning.
15. To make the game a little more fun there are teams with 3 players in each, so even if you do badly on your own you may be top with your team.
16. If you think there should be any other rules let me know.
17. GoldDog has the right to justify trades and make decisions on whether a trade is viable. If you think someone is cheating then let me know, usually its just a harmless mistake.

Noticed that rpaco has chosen to open a long position OYS in the trading game. Oystertec is currently an AIM listed company, and as such is not eligble to be included in this FTSE trading game as per the rules above.

I think it's OK, Andy. In the past I've put AIM shares in and the rule was roughly along the lines of 'if it's got an EPIC, it's OK'. So OFEX would not be eligible, for instance, but AIM ones would.

We have used AIM shares on previous games.
However i am short on PRC at present and wouldn't mind that trade canceling Hil........

Hi Vasey... that's not what it says in GD's rules... but what the hell.. it's only a game!! I've got enough OYS shares in the real world anyway!! If I had known about the Heathrow seminar I would have gone along.. how was it? I heard about Tom H's wild DOW prediction: 10,000 by June!! We'll see...

23 of the 24 places in the game are now being utilised. If Pear Shaped had posted earlier yesterday, I would've entered him into the game. As it is, I've got calfy, Olddog/Bolddog and Pear Shaped who have all indicated that they want to play but have not stated any trades. One of those 3 may still play if they wish although they're too late for this week. The first one of the 3 to enter their trade(s) for next week after 4:30pm on Friday will be included and, I'm afraid, the other two will miss out. At least, that way, the game will then be fully utilised.

I understand what you're saying and it was an unfortunate choice of words by GD, imo. As far as I'm concerned, AIM shares are allowed and OFEX aren't. I simply need to be able to readily access a bid and offer price.
