A pleasure, Driver.

Here's another of my favourites, for a somewhat more speculative play that could bring a very decent return short- or long-term:

Ariana Resources (AAU): has just added 45 new exploration licences for gold and precious metals in Turkey, bringing its total to 106. AAU is making good progress in drilling its prime gold prospect at Sindirgi which has already been found to contain rich gold veins.

There's lots of info about, well worth a look. The drilling should report at the end of November and could precipitate a sharp re-rating of the stock. FWIW the SP seems to be at a discount to peers like STI in spite of having stronger prospects; a flow of good news could help to iron this out.

DYOR.

soul
Its already on my W/List has been for a while.

cynic - 11 Oct 2006 12:38 - 350 of 934

am currently out of SOLA (profitably!) as wanted funds for indices and SHP, both of which served me very nicely ..... am quite sure i shall be back into SOLA in due course, but shall wait for a bad day or two .... think the markets are due for a bit of quite heavy profit taking as have been strong for last week

should have reiterated my thanks to soul* for pointing me in the right direction several weeks ago

soul traders - 11 Oct 2006 15:24 - 351 of 934

Hello Cynic, a pleasure re SOLA, and well done on banking some gains. Just make sure you're back in before the next quarterlies (mid Nov) ;o)

Flackwell Vialli - 11 Oct 2006 18:23 - 352 of 934

Soul T - Thanks for the forecasts re:SOLA

My posting was meant to show that the valuation was reasonable on an "as is" basis, never mind the additional capacity announced yesterday. What is good to see is the sales costs to profit ratios, the volumes pre-sold, the additional capacity being brought on line, the supply chain being tightened etc etc.

What remains a risk includes currency, customer satisfaction levels, medium term demand, overseas listing etc.

But each to their own risk-reward ratio

soul traders - 12 Oct 2006 12:38 - 353 of 934

Understood, FV - it's good to see people being conservative, but a PE of 20 like you suggested would probably be offputting to me unless I knew that there was more growth to come. As you say, ech to their own. Good luck, etc.

soul traders - 17 Oct 2006 11:48 - 354 of 934

Morning all,

Just a quick mention of one that might be worth a look (SEO punters, pay close attention!):

Symphony Plastics (SYM) has just announced via a trading update that it anticipates becoming profitable in Q4 this year. The shares added 48% in two days on the news. The company produces additives for plastics that enable the material to bio-degrade down to water. Contracts for supply already exist; there has been a sharp upturn in business in the last few weeks going forward to year end, hence the profitability announcement. SYM is also in negotiations with major retailers in France which could provide access to a huge plastics market in which there is great pressure for materials to conform to environmentally freindly standards.

SYM has also founded a new division developing technology that will turn waste plastic into oil and is working on two forms of technology that appear to have good prospects.

Currently at a market cap of just less than 10 million (including the shares to be admitted later this week as a result of a placing), the company looks cheap if one assumes that it could make a lowly 0.5 million profit in 2007 with reasonable growth in subsequent years.

I jumped in yesterday for a reasonable stake as I fancy this to enjoy a strong run if the company continues to announce the writing of new business and back this up with encouraging trading updates.

All IMO, PDYOR, etc.

Bought back into Antisoma ASM the other day after being out for a couple of years looking good for 2007 if any one likes Bio Stocks.

Was tipped in today's Telegraph see below.

Antisoma
Stock: 25.25p -1p
Questor says Buy

Given that it was founded in 1988, it is not obvious to the outsider that Antisoma is one of the UK's longest established biotechnology companies.

To the external eye, given that the company has no drugs in late-stage phase 3 trials and it has just enough cash in the bank to last for another year or so, its place in the biotech firmament might appear even more surprising.

Earlier this year, Antisoma's shares slumped after Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche handed back its earlier purchase rights to Antisoma's leading drug for lung cancer, known as AS1404, and another drug for breast cancer.

The stock market quickly took fright, prompting fears Antisoma would have to tap investors for more cash to continue with development.

But that was then, and this is most certainly now, and Antisoma is looking a lot less sickly. Its shares have picked up strongly in the past few months as investors have realised the data so far on AS1404 and its other drugs is promising.

Glyn Edwards, Antisoma's chief executive, has said he is talking to other companies about striking a partnering agreement to fund expensive phase 3 trials for AS1404.

Biotech chief executives often say such things, but Mr Edwards is well regarded in his industry and his indication that he is not doing the ground work for a new fund raising has been taken to mean he really is close to an important agreement to replace Roche.

Would-be investors must remember Antisoma is operating in the field of cancer, where there is huge demand for new drugs. If it cracks the market for lung cancer alone, Antisoma's future will certainly look a lot healthier than it does today.

Indeed analysts believe AS1404 could bring in sales of more than $1bn (537m), making it officially a "blockbuster" in modern pharmaceutical parlance.

Roche's withdrawal from its deal with Antisoma heaps all the risk on the British company striking a new deal, but this could be on better terms than the one it would have had with Roche in any case. A slow burner.

Vislink (VLK) continuing to progress upwards; has been tipped by Shares Mag (last week's) as a strong contender for promotion to the FTSE-All Share Index and with a decent forward PE too.

Hi Driver,
I,ve got stock in HMSD who are doing two aquisitions RNS today they are issuing a deffered share to each ordinary.
I understand they are basically doubling the share issue and thus the price may well halve so do the new defferred shares cover the lost price?

laurie squash - 25 Oct 2006 10:37 - 367 of 934

Driver,
While I,ve got you busy do you know of a way of finding the AIM companies dual listed for holding in an ISA?
