blimey, zarif. How did you get 9713?
edit: Just checked the futures chart. It hit 9710 around 2pm.
It missed my target by 10 points. Damn.

zarif - 21 Oct 2003 18:07 - 350 of 2279

Snoball I should have mentioned it was on the Dec Dow. and in reality reached near enough to 9702 but i guess i bottled out.

How are your trades the trin was around 0.96 at pre-open 2.15pm gmt and steady around there. So suggests bullish area despite mixed market

I have got 2 longs open at present and hope can fulfill them before day is out.

I've moved my stop down to break even as I don't think this looks
bearish enough.
Let the market decide.

snoball - 21 Oct 2003 18:22 - 352 of 2279

I'm off for my tea.
I'll be back at the close.

zarif - 21 Oct 2003 19:44 - 353 of 2279

Hello
Where is the rest of the clan today???
dow seems to be stuck around a band i wish someone somewhere would give it a kick upwards preferably to 9800 so can close my 2 longs in good style.

Stopped out for nil point.
Funny sort of day.
Should've just left it alone.
Nite y'all.

Watch the Trin!

snoball - 21 Oct 2003 20:53 - 356 of 2279

I hope you managed to close your longs, zarif.

zarif - 22 Oct 2003 15:08 - 357 of 2279

Phew lucky closed my longs out lastnight for 48.00 profit.
I took a short out opening at 9720.
What do you reckon it is going to fall to as the ftse is -100 almost.

Ask me who is as sick as a parrot. Down 119 as I speak.
It just illustrates the point that it is the trader not the system that needs the most work.

zarif - 22 Oct 2003 18:21 - 359 of 2279

Snoball my sympathy goes out to you -you should have left that short open.
Do you reckon it has bottomed out at 9577 dec dow as i have taken along out with tight stop opening at 9595

The short open from 9720 closed at 9577 = 143pts @15 =2145 yipee !!!!!!!
Las vegas here i come.

zarif, sympathy appreciated.
what's needed is a kick up the backside.
Where next, well 9630 is the 38% Fib retracement from the high on 15th.
9563 is the next one below that. (50%)

Nice work and leave some over from Las Vegas to start again.
Edit: Correction, 9613 is the 38% Fib & 9540 is the 50%.

jules99 - 23 Oct 2003 01:06 - 361 of 2279

Hi all...missed the fun today...shorts still in place...closed some at 9594 today.

I must warn others who are thinking of trading with CMC it in my opinion the worst in terms of how they skew the dow/ftse indices as they see fit...their quotes are always quoted in their favour without question and change them, depending on what the client might ask for...the spreads get worst as the market gallops, they are always different to what is actually happening, I cant beleive they are allowed to get away with this...to this date.

I asked for a quote late in the market an hr before close...the first quote they offered I asked for 20 cfd contracts, the reply was at that price I could only purchase 5 CFD's...

If i wanted more than 5CFD's then a higher quote/price was given...I thought about what she had just said...and asked for a refresh at a different level...She replied she didn't do refresh's...I mean the dow per sec right...?

Once I can clear out my positions in the next 2 weeks I will seek to move on without doubt...

One month is more than enough with CMC...their trading practices should be monitored by the FSA...I am very appalled, and understand the complaints that folks have made now.

Plse try CMC for a month and I think you will know what I mean exactly...

By the way well done zarif...

Zarif do u trade DOW by placing orders via internet with IG..? Reason being with CMC as soon as the market opens Down, and you phone to place order or ask for a quote they quote you something like 40 points down, i.e it would be impossible to go short at 9720 even if I tried, did you place short order at 14.30 as market opened or way before...? and do you trade Dow future after hrs...?

Snoball how about you..via telephone?
Also snoball sympathy from myself...

Keep well...apologies about questions...

Jules99.

Jeroo - 23 Oct 2003 02:31 - 362 of 2279

Jules - I've just read through your post re CMC's Deal4Free and many of us have been there. All it takes is a quick look at IB or similar futures trading platform to realise that you are missing out on fabulous opportunities to get long or short by using CMC. From what I've picked up on in your posts, I think you deserve better.

snoball - 23 Oct 2003 12:50 - 363 of 2279

Jules, I use Finspreads on line. I rarely phone unless I'm away from the computer and have to ask for a price or what my position is. They are extremely helpful and willing to make adjustments if you feel hard done by.

Jeroo is right though if you can afford it trading the actual futures contracts is much better.

zarif - 23 Oct 2003 14:19 - 364 of 2279

Morning everybody:
Watchout the trin is around 1.56 before even opening at 14.12gmt

Shorting like crazy today. Any one brave to take on longs - ithink not!!!

Jules: I use mainly the SB a/c (limited risk A/c) where u have to put stops as u place the trade -which in my case is as it happens on the screen and also after hours, before opening etc. But it is instantaneous and worked out on the mid price therefore you know that the position will open say after 18pts.There is no waiting Wysiwyg. No complains from my side abt them -except when i lose than its me not them!!!!!

I am going to be opening a cfd a/c with them soon.

Also the best thing i can suggest to you is to ring my manager if you want at IG INDEX. Mr.James Raisky: 0207-896-0089 and ask him any questions that you want.

Closed right on the 38.2% Fib.
Maybe some upwardly mobile prices tomorrow?

zarif - 24 Oct 2003 15:30 - 366 of 2279

Afternoon everybody:
Watch the dow today as the market is having a breather and likeness to a cliff edge. Get your parachutes ready for a safe "short landing"

I did some shorts yesterday and closed them with a small nett gain and also a long which i closed at a small profit.

The trin was showing around 1.62 at 15.29

Rgds to all.

zarif - 24 Oct 2003 17:36 - 367 of 2279

Closed one off the shorts in good profit and have left the others open (2 of them) and locked in the profits by moving the stop loss tight)
Let me know how your trades are doing.
What do you reckon it is going to bottom floor at today.
I reckon or am hoping it to reach at 9480 dec dow and then i will have truly scalped the dow.
