Mediwatch - Watch them rocket in 2005 !!! (MDW)

overgrowth - 12 May 2005 22:21

Mediwatch is a small company destined to become a much bigger fish by the time this year is out. Mediwatch are already a market leader in urological medical diagnostics equipement and are currently exporting their products throughout the UK, Canada, Europe, India and Japan. That doesn't leave much of the globe left for them to capture - until you remember the good ol' US and China. These are the two massive markets which are destined to be added to MDW's export client portfolio by the end of 2005.

The company is currently heavily undervalued. This is probably because Mediwatch's speciality is not a very glamourous business to be in as their equipment is used extensively to diagnose prostate cancer in men and other nasty urological conditions affecting both men and women. However, don't let that put you off investing in these guys. This is big business and is growing at an exponential rate as more and more people globally become health-aware as they get older.

Mediwatch normally supply their products through to global markets via distribution agreements. They already have the best of distribution partners in the well known US medical distributor CR Bard who supply Canada and Europe and GE Medical who supply Japan. The UK business is handled by Mediwatch's own dedicated sales team.

US FDA approval was gained for MDW's products at the start of last year, however a whole year of US legal wrangling meant that they were unable to seek a suitable partner for the crucial distribution agreement until the start of this year. This distribution agreement is expected by the board to have a "significant effect" on the share price so they are reluctant to give any clues as to when it will be signed, sealed and delivered. The general consensus is that this US distribution agreement will be announced in July/August. In China and Hong Kong, MDW have done things the other way round. They have set up distribution agreements with major Asian medical equipment distributors and have stock already out there waiting to sell into the markets - all they are waiting for is SDA approval (which is a "rubber stamp") from the Chinese authorities - this can take anything up to 12 months to come through and MDW applied during Autumn 2004 - so even more good news coming soon this year. Epidemiological data from British Association of Urology conference last year: On average 30-45% of all men between the age of 50 and 70 have at least one PSA test per year in the US / Italy / Australia.

If that's not enough to convince you to invest a few hard earned coppers in MDW, they are also developing a PSA stick test product (PSAWatch) which is revolutionary and causing some excitement in medical circles. This product can also be adapted (at very low cost) for a whole spectrum of medical disciplines from Cardiology to Veterinary Practice! This product is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Philip Stimpson the CEO has said that this product is going to be their "gold mine" - I'm sure it will prove to be ours too.

Assuming the retracement follows the current trend 11-11.5p is my target and we're getting there. Not particularly happy to see them fall back, but the rush upwards made a small retracement inevitable. If you draw a trend line on the chart the SP should bounce off both support and the trend at 11p.Well, that's the theory, MDW could always stuff me by releasing news. I think Smudge is right regarding EVO, if they were not filling an order they would be back on the Offer.

og, didnt think wins had much, 2 25k buys shifted them to 12.5, think they were trying to be too aggresive

og, North, it is!

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:40 - 352 of 1497

bugger, looks like my 11p is but a distant dream!!

Not to worry, happy with my current holding.

pth, Sorry, nothing personal you understand. Rgds.

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 14:46 - 354 of 1497

Looking good now :-)

Unlucky pth - I agreed with your analysis, though it looks as though buying pressure is back again.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:50 - 355 of 1497

jnk, you can't win them all! Actually, it would be nice to win one just now and again. Once Hood have sold up, will be interesting to see what sort of bunfight we get on the Bid. It can only tick up when that happens.

With regard to EVO, there is another possible scenario other than filling an order. Most unlikely, but perhaps they definately know something and are doing a bit of stock piling for greater profits in the not too distant future. Very, very unlikely. Just musing, cos it is a dreadfully slow day. Whatever the reason, it's good for the SP value.

proptrade - 23 Jun 2005 14:51 - 356 of 1497

what is your target here chaps?

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 14:56 - 357 of 1497

prop

Difficult to say, depends on the Medtronic deal and what sort of revenues that is likely to generate, not to mention China & Hong Kong. I certainly think we can get to 20p, perhaps 25p in fairly short order. The stock is so tightly held that any buying pressure will have an enormous effect on the SP.

jnknill - 23 Jun 2005 15:02 - 358 of 1497

pth, Do you have a "crystal-ball" at your side? You have just summarised the subjects which I was about to put to yourself/og!! Can I assume that we are again, if we ever moved, in a situation where stock is almost non-existent? I ask this, bearing in mind the points which you made. Rgds.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 15:38 - 359 of 1497

jnk

just noticed the 150k buy which must nearly clean out HOOD, so yes judging by recent market activity we should be back at the point where the MMs are going to have to move up the Bid to encourage sellers. If EVO are still engaged in whatever activity they are up to, will likely up the Bid more than the other MMs to achieve their aim. I can only guess where the price will go on release of good news, cos my crystal ball doesn't seem to work that well.

Hood off the offer and on the bid with EVO, wouldn't be surprised to see EVO push up the Offer now if they still need the shares.

smudge1004 - 23 Jun 2005 16:05 - 361 of 1497

pth, stockpiling did cross my mind, however the large t trades over the last couple of weeks, and their eagerness to be out there on their own makes me thing they have a commited buyer

all good stuff

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 16:06 - 362 of 1497

indeed smudge indeed, interesting times we live in!

foitek - 23 Jun 2005 16:09 - 363 of 1497

What I can't understand is where the sellers are coming from? Given the SP activity over the past few weeks anyone following MDW would surely figure out that something is brewing and hold tight - day-trading would be too risky at the moment.

smudge1004 - 23 Jun 2005 16:16 - 364 of 1497

foitek, not everyone reads bb, if you havent read it on a bb, no papers have reported anything on mdw in the last 6 months to my knowledge, many people bought in at 6.62 and upwards, their aims are different to mine and a lot of others on here, they are happy 10%ers, while im a greedy 1000%er with time on my side and paid for stock

banjomick - 23 Jun 2005 16:45 - 365 of 1497

og
'mick, I bet you several K Mediwatch shares, that you can't play in a pub without someone asking "do you do duelling banjos" aaarrgh. lol!'

Yes spot on every time-lol. The days of going to pubs and playing banja have been very few and far between over the last few years..young family and all that.
Anyway, another very interesting day as far as the trades went, still easy to raise the sp with litle buying!

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 17:02 - 366 of 1497

An excellent day indeed and EVO's still on the bid.

Plenty coming up soon.

BAUS kicks off on Monday next week and the results will be out by Thursday.

The results have given updates on deals in progress before, it would be nice to hear that the Medtronic deal is in the bag, though I think that a separate RNS would have much more impact on the sp.

ptholden - 23 Jun 2005 19:18 - 367 of 1497

Having seen that 150k buy going through at 13p, was rather getting the impression that this might be getting away from me. Particularly in view of EVO stubbornly remaining on the Bid. So topped up through the CFD account again, although didn't show up on the Trades. Best it goes up to 15p now and not back to 11p!!

overgrowth - 23 Jun 2005 19:27 - 368 of 1497

pth - you're not the only one who's topped up at the (current) higher prices lol!

Looking like we're on a roll again.
