Interim Statement today makes interesting reading as this company has significant potential upside in the Copper/Moly resource at the Danfeng Project and in negotiation to obtain other opportunities. 24 Hr drilling to establish the JORC resource. Situated in China as is GFM with a strong in-country team. Looking good.

Is there any relationship between GFM and SCR?

Not that I know of. It just struck me that they are in a similar situation, both exploration/mining companies actually in China and working closely with the Chinese. China is one of the factors that is driving the Resource Sector boom. I'm in GFM too and I believe it has great prospects. But WDIK. DYOR. :-)

I got in after reading about this agreemnt - LANDMARK COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH CENTRAL GOVERNMENT MINERAL RESOURCES BUREAU.http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200604050700300022B.html
I think this is an excellent agreement, it has certainly increased SCR's potential to discover precious metal many folds.
Some people may take this as a ramp but I honestly belive SCR will do what AEX has and is doing in the oil sector. With institutions buying into both companies I am happy to hold for longterm. Mining & oil is the sector to be IN for the next few years. Please DYOR.

http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/06042006/214/south-china-resources-rallies-isoft-sinks.html
The deal with the Xi'an Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources will cover 206.73km2 that includes the Lingkou copper-molybdenum region.
The Lingkou area comprises four separate coincident copper-molybdenum anomalies recently discovered by the Institute across the highly prospective belt.
"This is the first time a foreign mining company and the Chinese Central Government Geological Bureau have cooperated at this level," said managing director of South China Resources Steve Leithead.
"It establishes a unique platform from which South China Resources can establish itself as a leading foreign developer of base metals projects within China."
This could turn into something very special.

Just been alerted to the potential in scr.I intend to do my own limited research before commiting.
If any-one has the time and inclination could they briefly give me their views
of its potential pros.cons etc., bullet points.
Having been quiet dependent on the prospects of KMR.for some time i feel the time is right to diversify into futher mining potential plays.
Any response is appreciated.

Hi Robert
No tips at the weekend AFAIAA.
Just solid buying.
Yet another record on the copper price has meant that investors are looking wherever possible for the next jewel in the sector.
Amongst the minnows this one stands out as one with great potential.
In theory there should be some profit taking at some stage - the problem is deciding whether it will be from this level or a far higher level.
It's a difficult call when you are trying to get in.

Hi Robert,
There is no harm on taking some profit at that kind of margin, but I didn't have the guts to do that incase I could not buy it back. I expect it to be one of the best miners in China. I am holding for longterm and decided to top up again when it dropped a bit from 29p.
Have a look at GGG, another Chinese miners its going mad. There is an RNS out, people are realising that it would do the same as SCR. Both companies are good long term investment as China's economy grows IMO.

Thanks Kay,
just saw GGG thread and was looking into it. I am in now. I believe it may be worth a punt alongside SCR.

Another intersting link on the prospect of this company:
LONDON (ResourceInvestor.com) -- South China Resources [AIM:SCR] has been doing a great job so far in developing towards production its Danfeng copper-molybdenum project in Chinas Shaanxi province, but has now done a deal with the Xian Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources (XIGM) that as well as being the first of its kind, materially enhances SCRs investment proposition.
