Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

remind me can you, but am i not correct in thinking that MrsT is dead and left power about 20 years ago? ..... if so, what are you getting so excited about?
now if you were discussing the merits or otherwise of brown or blair, then of course it might even have current relevance
:-)

It will be interesting if/when we ever get to the truth about all the shenanigans over the Iraq debacle and the Blair/Bush conversations. This country is still paying the price for that unholy mess.

No one really cares about Mrs T and the miners etc., except the twitters crazies. Twitter is inhabited by trolls who like to get excited about anything in the news. They are all goldfinger clones.

A Dream to nightmare.
What we should do is dig her up and expose her for what she was.
Perhaps not.

Your right Cyners I never got the chance to vote against Maggie being too young, but I certainly have studied her works etc etc, and have noticed how the North of England is devoid of previous manufacturing business, in fact work of any kind bar super markets.

DB.
I would like to open the books on Blair and Bush before we have the luck of them dying.
I think much of the present problems in the ME are down to them, but unfortunately some problems are and to come from Israel, which at the moment is out out of the headlines.

lots of good reasons why uk (heavy) manufacturing was in serious decline from WW1 onwards
for sure there was plenty of appalling management, and to some extent, that is how and why the balance swung too far the other way (as is the nature of these things) towards union power .... this in turn gave a good toehold for ultimate direct russian financial and political control of several key unions
however, even without all the above, it is in the nature of manufacturing in the modern era, that it gravitates to areas where labour is cheaper or even cheapest, always provided that the goods are produced to an acceptable quality
in the chemical industry, china especially has a well-earned reputation for producing sub-standard product - ditto india to some extent - with the result that the only way that it can be sold is at a discount
for that matter, many people still refuse to accept chinese stainless steel, for similar reasons
sorry - got a bit off subject at the end :-)

going back a bit .....
direct russian financial and political control of several key unions is exactly why it was necessary for the good of the country that they be broken, albeit that it resulted in much serious pain and hardship for the victims
that almost all coal mines were uneconomical by that time, and steel industry costs per tonne were far too high, inevitably resulted in their closure ....
that the unions, for their political ends and not their members' benefit, were still insisting on ridiculous restrictive practices - e.g. who should draw a chalk line on a boiler plate - accelerated both the demise of those unions and the industries in which they were prevalent

please now enlighten us all as to which bits of the above are incorrect, though you are probably too young to remember that far back anyway ... however, your lord and master fossy should be able to give you the far-left slant if you can't remember the party line
btw, the last time i was drunk was a good number of years ago .... i really do not like the after-effects - i.e. a hangover - so avoid the risk

Stan he is not drunk he was indoctrinated at early age with R/winged simplistic Darwinian form of capitalist theory and a that coupled with false self opinion of his own ability and worth is unlikely to be changed.
He has read the Mail and Express and Comics to hone his opinions without recourse to looking at the history of the unions and what they have achieved through that period.
He has a constricted view of the past and like the other blind followers of the present tory leadership concentrates on the immediate and not the long term future, but protecting his own personal advantages.
The problem is that he like the UK has a worn our infrastructure and not the resources or ability to make the necessary changes.

so even fossy can only cast generalised and hopelessly inaccurate aspersions rather than pointing up any errors in my post .... not surprising really; after all, he's just fos, thinking that by throwing around enough silage, he'll con some people into swallowing his nonsense .... perhaps his 10-year old grandson will believe him

From another thread commenting on us here............
If you look at something like the 'TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD', I do think this typifies how 'stale' MoneAM has become. There are about 6-10 regular posters having a political ding dong with each other and for the average user, it would be so very hard to even contribute to the thread as he/she would be readily seen not to 'fit in' just because it is so 'cliquey'............ends
Well Ive replied and dismissed it as just not being true.
Anyone can post here as long as we dont get the spoiler like we had from advfn a few weeks back.
Comments posters please????????????

That poster is absolutely spot on GF. Your thread, your responsibility. How about banning political in-fighting by creating another separate thread and calling it just that. Introduce other topics on here instead, one way of getting rid of Fred so that has to be a bonus :O)

Chris other subjects do get discussed here.
Its up to the individual to skip what they dont like or squelch posters.
As the header says "Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish".
Not only that Chris but we dont want to say duplicate whats on say the footie thread or racing thread. We dont want to get where we have 2 or 3 duplicates like advfn as on certain subjects.
