Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

My father got his in 1954. The order is different to the medal. The order is a bit like the order of the garter. They have a service together in St Geoge's chapel and have a procession wearing the order. It ceases on your death as it is a membership system.
He got his while working at the palace before and after the coronation. Then he went round the world 1953/4 on the Royal Tour for 6 months. He used to go up to Balmoral and Windsor at various times.

Very interesting alders and Hays. I like personal history like that. I always find it very educating and exciting in a way.
Afraid my family dont have anything like that, although my uncle who played cricket for Yorkshire and England Johnny Wardle once shook a kings hand at lords or so goes the family tale.
Which King I dont know, havent a clue about that side of History, I did economic and social.

Here is a Pathe news of the photo above being taken. My father is at the left of the middle row looking at the picture. The tall guy next to him is the Queen's detective. The tall guy behind the Queen is princess Di's father. The film clip will only play on a PC and not a tablet. The photo is being taken at about 1 minute 58 seconds into clip.

Great photo ., yes i have just found the photo. I only found out about Nigella's mother's family owned J Lyons. when i was reading about her court case , i alway's thought it was the Salmon family.
My Grandad's name was Tom Barrett , and he worked there for 50 years i think and retired about 1965.
