THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

sorry to say, but i am just so bored with fossy's postings that i shall dwell on whether or not to squelch him .... that will also have the useful by-product of eliminating all the space his perpetual nonsenses fill up
his postings do not offend me at all, for i rarely read them, but they're just tiresomely repetitive, and more to the point, any question posed to him (per the last) is just ignored
all in all, he's just intolerably DULL

cynic - 09 Jan 2014 09:58 - 35282 of 81564

max - a very simple question of cost, but i agree that it really is a dreadful indictment of the state of heavy industry elsewhere, especially in europe, that it clearly cannot compete (for now)

Manuel's old age seems to be causing him confusion.

"for i rarely read them, but they're just tiresomely repetitive"

Shows how a real genius makes informed judgements and comments.

fossy - your cartoons are so obvious in their political targetting and slant that they do not need to be studied .... your written postings are always much the same and, if not by-passed entirely, can be quickly skated over

a much fairer criticism of you, is that you never ever answer a question

“Ah fred at last a socialist capitalist well done.”

======---===

Always leant to SD and thought that the “state” should be able to regulate and restrain “capitalism”, if, or when necessary.

The “state” “should” also be able to “stimulate” and “direct” the “economy” for the benefit of all within that state. (Egs. In a state of war whether economic, climatic, or military, etc.)

Just checked in Wicki and this basically sums up my positioning, although difficult to obtain, due to old reactionaries, still feasible and more attractive, to me, than rampant Capitalism.

Social democracy is a political ideology that officially has as its goal the establishment of democratic socialism through reformist and gradualist methods.[1] Alternatively, social democracy is defined as a policy regime involving a universal welfare state and collective bargaining schemes within the framework of a capitalist economy. It is often used in this manner to refer to the social models and economic policies prominent in Western and Northern Europe during the later half of the 20th century.[2][3]

Diane Abbott speaking on the Mark Duggan shooting.

"There's still a lot of concern about stop and search and the fact that black youth and Muslim youth get stopped and searched far more than white youth and it bears no relationship to the actual criminality.

No relationship to the Black crime rate ? in South London. Gun crime is a Black youth problem , the police had to set up a black on black gun crime department to deal with.

doodlebug4 - 09 Jan 2014 15:53 - 35287 of 81564

There are far too many people pussy footing around this problem for various reasons. Mark Duggan was a thug, heavily involved in gun culture. Tottenham MP on Sky News saying this country needs more black police officers - says it all really.

The foundations of the UK economic crisis were laid in 1986 - deregulation of the banks and the building societies act.

David Cameron is 'so out of touch it’s untrue', says BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Roger Phillips

Mr Phillips told him: “We get call after call after call from people saying you and your Cabinet are just so out of touch it’s untrue, you need to come up here and spend a week up here, work in a foodbank, find out what’s really, really going on at grassroots level and then you will understand why we feel perhaps we are being treated unfairly.”

As he insisted the entire country was “in it together” over austerity, Mr Phillips interjected: “Oh come on…”

A police officer accused of falsely claiming to have witnessed the Plebgate row today pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey

Pc Keith Wallis, 53, of West Drayton, west London, admitted misconduct in public office between 19 September and 16 December 2012, by saying that he had witnessed the incident and arranging for his nephew to support the claim.

He was charged after he sent an email to Conservative deputy chief whip John Randall, who was his MP, wrongly claiming that he had seen what happened in Downing Street on 19 September 2012.

The court heard that Wallis, from the Metropolitan Police Diplomatic Protection Group, had offered his resignation.

The Met Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said: "His actions have also negatively impacted upon public trust and confidence in the integrity of police officers."
