Well written Maggie, So much paperwork, and little flexibility and power for teachers to force children to learn.

They have to say everything is great, regardless of the reality.

You are right nmamreh,
But you can indirectly force them to study by giving homework and examining during their course of study. Teachers have to follow guidelines which restrict them too much.

TANKER - 28 Nov 2011 09:34 - 3557 of 5370

that is in correct teachers do have the power ,
they are just to useless to use it ,
and a lot of teachers tell this kids not to be walked over in life
but they are giving them false ideas most people have to bow there heads
or not get a job FACT ,let there parents tell them the facts of life not some
teacher fresh from uni as most of them no nothing about the way of the world .
and i tell you this for over 20 years i had a last year uni person come to my company for 12 months at a time and only found one with a brain.and he was irish from dublin

Ok Tanker we agree that there are bad teachers but the govt will not let the good teachers teach. Every year they say that O Level and A level results are improving but the truth is standards are falling. Grammar is not taught with emphasis you cannot ask children to correct spelling mistakes, in fact you cannot even mark too many of their spelling mistakes wrong that might lower their confidence, can't repeat tables - too boring! Twenty years ago my P7 class could have done today's O levels. There are plenty of good dedicated teachers they're just not allowed to teach! Probably agree about dress code but that's everywhere and maybe an age thing!
Ahoj You got it in one!

TANKER - 28 Nov 2011 09:41 - 3559 of 5370

maggie . by your posts i would say you was a dam good teacher and respected.
my grand so is at uni doing maths to become a teacher and he is very clever
and i would say the reason for a lot of itis down to me .i got him in volved with my
dealing accounts at the age of 8 when i went away i would post on here and he would read the post and would no when to sell and would quickly work out the profit to sell at because i am not good on computers and when abroad would never put in my details .

maggiebt4 - 28 Nov 2011 09:43 - 3561 of 5370

Teachers don't have power, It's a ' court of Human Rights Offence' to raise your voice! That combined with the 'claim culture' that now exists makes it close to impossible to discipline so many teachers don't try because they will get no support from head teachers
Ahoj post 3556 Agreed, you can't force them but you can make life difficult if they don't! except you can't now cos that would upset them.

maggiebt4 - 28 Nov 2011 09:52 - 3562 of 5370

Thanks tanker I could do with a nice Christmas present.

TANKER - 28 Nov 2011 09:52 - 3563 of 5370

maggie . teachers are going to fight for there pensions .
but will NOT fight to correct teachers rules to teach .
so money means more to them than the job that they do .
there pockets they will fight for but will not fight to give children
what they need and remember children do not no about what is in the big wide world when they leave teachers do .
speaks volumes does it not .

TANKER - 28 Nov 2011 09:54 - 3564 of 5370
