Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

I think that they will find oil but there is bound to be a duster at some stage....they will be there for 2 years at least, drilling loads of wells so there is bound to be a failure along the way but I would be mighty disappointed if they don't come up with the goods with what's planned so far...a 10p down and up is not going to bother me in the short term....delays go with the nature of the business...it looks good overall.

Balerboy - 09 Feb 2010 13:51 - 3554 of 6492

think you under estimate the argi's cynic, but stand to be corrected later on, imo

HARRYCAT - 09 Feb 2010 13:52 - 3555 of 6492

You'll be disappointed!!!!!! How do you think markymar will feel? He must be a major shareholder by now!;o)

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 13:54 - 3556 of 6492

it's political sabre rattling for domestic consumption
it's assuredly not in argentina's interest to stop someone else doing all the hard and expensive work, even if she has a longer term imperialist agenda

I frankly think that we have hit the bottom for the sp.....look at the rising pattern on the graph....this is a support level and for it to drop further : 2 things : firstly the rig has been hijacked by some Somalis on holiday and secondly crude has dropped to $65 dollars or less.

ptholden - 09 Feb 2010 14:17 - 3558 of 6492

Trendline support at 90p or thereabouts. Just noticed it gapped up a while ago, the bottom of which is at 66p; gaps are not always filled, however.........hmmm

More downtrend tomorrow.

Robstuff, the rig is not arriving this weekend as you said in post 3543. Read below

Drilling rig nears end of long Falklands journey

A drilling rig is expected to complete its journey from a firth in the Scottish Highlands to the Falkland Islands in the next few weeks.

The Ocean Guardian has been under tow by a tug since late November when it left Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth.

AGR Petroleum Services will use the rig during a 2m oil and gas exploration project in the North Falklands Basin.

The work has involved the largest consignment of gear to be shipped from Aberdeen to the region.

About 9,000 tonnes of equipment was loaded at Aberdeen harbour for shipment to the Falklands.

Desire Petroleum and Diamond Offshore Drilling are also involved in the project.

hyleo - from where did you glean your info? ...... certainly Markymar, who seems particularly knowledgeable on this whole scenario, reported in an earlier post (3491) that "drilling activity" should start around 13th february

robstuff - 09 Feb 2010 16:55 - 3562 of 6492

when was that written? I'm sure it's due 14/2 but may have been delayed, not sure.

markymar - 09 Feb 2010 17:34 - 3563 of 6492

Hlyeo you are talking utter tosh again the rig will be drilling thursday or Friday next week. it arrives this Sunday and will go straight to Liz Target where ancher chains will be set over the target.

hlyeo98 - 09 Feb 2010 17:46 - 3564 of 6492

Read it, smart marky, it was dated yesterday...where are your facts???

markymar - 09 Feb 2010 17:54 - 3565 of 6492

You know it was a misprint...i think people on this thread know who talks crap and its not me you are misinformed a usual .OG will be in the Falkland this Sunday weather permitting no hold ups then we see who is misinformed.

cynic - 09 Feb 2010 17:57 - 3566 of 6492

well one report or the other will prove to be correct

i read your link, but it could well be just an old report that has been recycled
given that there are no dates mentioned in it, that could well be the case, though not necessarily

the accurate (correct) report will come from shipping movement reports issued by Lloyds or similar - marky will know what i mean - or of course an rns from DES

ptholden - 09 Feb 2010 18:03 - 3567 of 6492

In any event, what really matters is spudding the well and finding oil, a few days delay here and there will make little difference in the great scheme of things!

hlyeo98 - 09 Feb 2010 21:57 - 3568 of 6492

It clearly dated 8th February,2010. You mean BBC is misinformed?

markymar - 09 Feb 2010 22:59 - 3569 of 6492

Yes i do!
OG will be in Falklands waters this Sunday valentines day a special day for me and should be drilling within 72 hours of arrival hence i have given Friday the latest date of spud.
Carry on with your tosh i stop the info!!!Up to u lot

hlyeo98 - 10 Feb 2010 07:34 - 3570 of 6492

How can BBC be misinformed? We will see on Valentine's Day.

cynic - 10 Feb 2010 07:49 - 3571 of 6492

easily; and as i posted, it did very much look like a recycled article ...... anyway, one or other of you is wrong, and all will become self-apparent in just a few days

markymar - 10 Feb 2010 08:09 - 3572 of 6492

I hope we will get a RNS on Monday saying that the OG is in British waters.

AGR TO UNDERTAKE MAJOR FALKLANDS DRILLING PROGRAMME
2010.02.09 - Projects

AGR Petroleum Services (AGR) will begin a significant drilling campaign, valued at more than 2 million, off the Falklands Islands this month on behalf of two operators.

The company, which is one of the largest independent well management firms in the world, has been contracted by Desire Petroleum and Rockhopper Exploration Plc to provide logistical support and undertake a six well drilling programme in the North Falklands Basin. Desire Petroleum has four prospects while Rockhopper will have two exploration wells drilled.

AGR is also in discussions with a possible third operator regarding additional drilling in the region.

Executive Vice President Ian Burdis of AGR said: This is a major project for us. To be contracted by two companies to undertake work in this frontier region is great recognition of our teams expertise in these challenging environments.

Theres been a huge amount of logistical preparation required ahead of this activity. Were now ready to begin drilling and will be working closely with our clients to achieve a successful outcome.

AGR has established a supply base in Port Stanley the Falkland Islands which required an initial loadout of approx. 9,000 tonnes of cargo to be shipped from Aberdeen Harbour the largest consignment of its kind to be transported from the city to the region.

The drilling campaign is expected to begin around the middle of February, weather dependent, and last for approximately five months.

Bob Lyons, Managing Director of Desire said: This project is central to our exploration and production activity and we are pleased to have AGR on board to provide support throughout the programme. Their teams are well respected in the industry and provide the ideal fit with our operations.

The third generation semi submersible drilling rig Ocean Guardian has been contracted from Diamond Offshore Drilling by Desire and will be used during the drilling of all six wells. It set sail from Invergordon, in the north east of Scotland late November and is due to arrive in the Falkland Islands around the middle of February.

Sam Moody, Managing Director, of Rockhopper added: We have found AGR's preparations for this drilling campaign to be highly professional and enjoy a very constructive working relationship with the team there. We look forward to the start of the programme.
