MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Brewin Dolphin have a 160p short term target ..and Nomura believe it or not a collosal 400p plus ..giving a valuation of 250m...!
No details at hand.

160p would be nice, do you have any view on the lack of activity today,??

jimmy b - 17 Feb 2005 11:56 - 358 of 2444

Lots more sells than buys now but has`nt dropped the price.

snaylor - 17 Feb 2005 11:58 - 359 of 2444

Mitzy, where did you get these price targets from, and as at what dates? Have Brewin produced a report since they were dropped as house broker? thanks

mitzy - 17 Feb 2005 12:30 - 360 of 2444

I understand Brewin have a new broker note out soon; and that Nomura have one in the pipeline.
Also that March is an important month for MMG...some exciting news is coming then and hopefully investors will not be disappointed.
Today is a slow day like yesterday and it will drift but dont worry.

Yup the small caps are mixed again today. Will be glad when Greenspan as left the arena.

Tomorrow being Friday there is a chance of an annoucement which should support the sp.

goldfinger - 18 Feb 2005 00:53 - 364 of 2444

Lack of news on the Share front following the analyst's meeting doesn't mean the scientsits have stopped working! I am sure that after the positive news of the last few weeks that further news will follow but I think that the momentum will inevitably slow as the research and development continues. You can't expect a ride like the last few weeks to continue at such a pace forever. I hold MMG, and will continue to hold, but the last thing we surely want is for MMG to become the next BPRG with all the associated problems of shorters, traders and unreasonably high expectations.

Absolutely no disresepct to any posters - I'm sure we've all got the same long term aim - to make some serious money from this one.

goldfinger - 18 Feb 2005 12:12 - 367 of 2444

Plenty of positive Broker notes out BP.

cheers GF.

mickeyskint - 18 Feb 2005 14:40 - 368 of 2444

Evaluation results are due out in March and if positive then I see a big rise in the sp.

mitzy - 18 Feb 2005 16:17 - 371 of 2444

No its all right mickey...we have 2 brokers notes out one by Brewin for 160p and one in the pipeline from Nomura for a potential 500p...and news out in a months time as you stated ...a quiet day again but I get the feeling its just getting ready for the next run-up...
Just our little secret.. cheers.

doughboy66 - 18 Feb 2005 16:55 - 372 of 2444

Why such a wide spread from the brokers ?
I have joined you and Goldfinger in this one and from your comments i`m quite excited about the long term prospects of these.Having said that it doesn`t take a lot for me to get excited must be my age.
