As I'm sure you are aware, we and many of you have had a long and tiresome battle with Java when trying to use our streaming services. We have therefore been working on a solution to remove this problem.
We are pleased to announce that we have a new stockwatch available for use which no longer uses Java. We are currently making this available as a technical beta version, which means we are interested in your feedback regarding performance, bugs and browser/operating system/device compatibility issues (note: design and styling will be addressed in later beta releases).
For the purpose of allowing the old and new stockwatch versions to run concurrently, the technical functionality of the new stockwatch mimics the old one for now (not style, fonts or look). Editing and managing watchlists uses the same process as the current java stockwatch but is now at the top of the page. This will allow you to switch between the versions should you have any problems. All technical features of the current stockwatch are available in the new version
except for the ability to drag resize columns. In the near future and as we migrate away from the java version of stockwatch, we will add new usability features as well as design it up to make the whole stockwatch experience smoother than it has ever been.
As this new version does not require java, you should expect it to work on your android devices and ipad/iphones. For now the display has not been optimised for smaller screens, but this will come in future development.
NOTE: Due to javascript performance in Internet Explorer 8, this new stockwatch can cause high CPU load. We recommend you use a current version of a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results.
The new version can be found on the following link:
http://www.moneyam.com/stockwatch/beta.php
NOTE: Non java versions of streaming trades, streaming news and level 2 will be released over the coming weeks.
Please do not worry about design/style at the moment as this version has not been styled it is purely a technical beta test environment it will be styled before it is released. We have put this here purely for feedback on its technical functionality i.e does it work in your browser and on your PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile
Please post your technical feedback in this discussion thread
Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoy it

Hi greekman, I tried refreshing but it stayed the same. Thinking of clearing out all temp files in Chrome and see what happens.

BATS went ex-div today and is down (for example) 114 points but the "Mid Chg" column only shows -14 i.e. possibly a field size problem.

This is a very useful version. It works fine on an ipad, which the old java one doesn't. Also the java people keep messing about with java updates which require repeated permission which is stupid of them. Why on earth they can't leave things alone I do not know.
One extra help that would enable the portfolio pane to be accessible to ms excel import would be an excellent enhancement, currently excel reports no data available. This would automate an excel based portfolio summary without have to copy and paste.
I have always been impressed with your service. Live prices are a bonus although I understand that level 2 must be paid for.
We'll done it guys at money am!

It would be nice to have a quick delete option on the stockwatch list , click on epic and delete. have always found it a pain when I want to delete several from list having to rember all those epics

Two minor bugs. My notes have not transfered from the java version, do I have to type them all over again or will they pop up some time sooon?
I cannot resize the notes columns, so they waste space, is this being worked on?
Finally when my non-java screen times out, I get sent back to the java screen. I would prefer it to stay with non-java when I have chosen that mode. Especially useful on Ipads. Is this switch back to java a ploy to get me to subscribe? ;-)
Seriously though you guys are doing good.

normanb,
Unfortunately as this is a new system the notes will need to be re entered adn do not auto transfer across.
With the notes column there is an horizontal arrow in the header - you can use this to expand it or decrease its size.
When we replace the java with the new one this will solve that problem for you,
Ian

Sorry to correct you Ian but the Notes should be available for normanb. If they are not then you have a problem. They share the same database so there is no need to re-enter them.
Notes columns are available as either a fixed size or a maximised size by clicking the arrow in the column header.
Regarding redirection to the old page, that's because we've not fully released this version yet. In future this will change.

betatest version of stockwatch works great here. Gives me all I need .
Also great when I am away from home and want to access share prices from libraries which do not have Java loaded and sometimes don't allow downloading of Java . Have already tested it at my local library . Can access moneyam share prices there now when before I could not .
Great improvement Moneyam. Well done .
I now go directly to the beta-test version .

Working well. It would be useful to have yesterdays bid and asking price as given by the ADVFN site. This is useful when dealing.

Oddly enough my notes DID appear after I had mentioned their absence. AND the resizing works although it didn't before honestly! Thanks for the direct feedback - that's what I call service - a rare thing these days. I understand about the redirection to java on timeout, serves me right for using your site on the cheap! however it would be nice it if could "remember" which format one is using. As you say when it's all non-java it will be purely academic.
One point not addressed - how about making it possible to directly import prices from a portfolio into Excel using the "Get External Data from Web" option?

Any help appreciated. Just upgrade to a new pc running Windows 7 pro and Internet explorer 11, the new non java stockwatch is not working have I not got a setting correct.
I was using the new stockwatch on my old machine running WinXP and Firefox and was looking forwards to using instead of java.

This is excellent. It works very well on my Ipad too which is great. Well done. Just one thing. When I expand the company name it reverts when I reload the page. Try to keep the column expanded. Dave

How do I stop java dialog box appearing before I can cancel it to get the non-java screen to open stockwatch?
Too many mouse clicks to dismiss java and get into the actual stock watch screen. Can this be done with one click only, or can I completely dump java to access directly?
Pse advise.

I think this non java stock watch is far superior than java.
Reaction to the mouse is a lot faster for a start and it doesn't jump about like java tends to do.
All in all it leaves java standing.
