Priscilla - your previous comments about your telephone exchange and development of land for luxury flats applies to my exchange, which is either a coincidence or we live within a stone's throw of each other! If so, I may be able to help.
My exchange begins "Kil". Are we close?
(I would have asked you via internal mail, but yours is not enabled. Mine is, if you'd rather reply that way.)

Internal mail sent, Pip.
Just spoken to computer shop which did my most recent upgrade. Tecchie there asked why I wanted a USB2 upgrade. He listened to my story and said if I didn't want to print high-end graphics, just documents, it wasn't necessary and to save myself the hassle. Apparently I have a PCI Version of 2.1 though.
Result!

Priscilla - thanks, reply sent.
Just to satisfy everyone else's curiosity, we live about 300 miles apart!

Yes Priscilla, it's just a question of speed of transfer of the data between the computer and the printer.

I had this too a few weeks ago - I thought I'd been banned!
A new PC cured the problem!

Bought a Medion Desktop from Aldi for 499, which is excellent and amazingly quiet. I also have a Time Platina which functions well but is extremely noisy by comparison.
Anyone any suggestions for quieting the Time machine??

I think you'll need to change the power supply unit - which includes the cooling fan.

I also have an Aldi Medion PC and find it noticeably quieter than my other machines have been. Have also got lots of new Evesham machines for work and they are very quiet.

AMD's are generally noisier than INTEL as they require a lot more cooling. I have three fans, hard drive coolers, a three fan power supplier and a tidy away IDE setup. Noisey as hell!

I have 6 new PCs at work, networked together using one of the desktops as a "server" although it will still be used as a main PC as well. This machine has MS Office on it and the others all have MS Works on. Can the Office programs be run on the other machines as well?
