For GKP ; if there is further to go (I think so ) it could be very sudden and almost impossible to get in later at a reasonable price..still in Afren and looking good for a pound by the new year...

goldfinger - 29 Sep 2009 00:05 - 359 of 3666

Cheers RF.

mwoolgar - 29 Sep 2009 08:06 - 360 of 3666

could be an upward trend on most oil companies in Nigeria, as the ChInese have stated they want to buy into oil in that country
Not clear at this stage if it means they want to do a deal with Nigerian government or buy into Oil Companies in Nigeria.............whichever way suggests that Nigerian oil is wanted

goldfinger - 29 Sep 2009 13:54 - 361 of 3666

Joined youn guys in AFR this morning... thanks cyners.

7:35 AM Sources say Chinese state-owned oil company CNOOC (CEO) is in talks with Nigeria to buy a large stake in some of Africa's richest oil blocks, at a possible value of $30B. A successful buy would put CNOOC in competition with western oil majors with a strong presence in the area

cynic - 29 Sep 2009 14:17 - 362 of 3666

good call for the bounce wasn't it

Nar1 - 29 Sep 2009 14:46 - 363 of 3666

Spot on Cynic

Matt7777 - 29 Sep 2009 15:38 - 364 of 3666

If CNOOC buy up expired and other licences, wont that mean a lot more competition for services, personnel etc in Nigeria, with negative cost implications when they start to invest ?

Also may increase pressure on those holding acreage as yet undeveloped, the govt could quickly strip co's unwilling / unable to drill as a bidder is waiting

a positive would be increased investment in the onshore facilities, removing some of the bottlenecks there and making more fields viable - though of course you'd have to pay the Chinese owners a few $

goldfinger - 29 Sep 2009 16:15 - 365 of 3666

yep good one cyners.

BOING, bouncing off the 25 day DMA as cyners called it.....spot on. Well done that man.

HARRYCAT - 29 Sep 2009 16:40 - 367 of 3666

Presumably when you sell then, your holding will be enough to move the sp on it's own???

cynic - 29 Sep 2009 16:47 - 368 of 3666

hahaha! ..... i don't think 20k will excite anyone much

blanche - 29 Sep 2009 16:48 - 369 of 3666

Would like to think that today is the start of the next move upwards. gla

Exploration and consolidation are the major value short-term drivers in the African oil exploration and production sector, says Arbuthnot.
The broker starts with recommendations on four stocks: Tullow Oil (buy), Heritage Oil (strong buy), SOCO International (strong buy) and Afren (strong buy).
Preferred picks are Afren and SOCO as they offer investors the greatest upside potential.

goldfinger - 30 Sep 2009 00:39 - 373 of 3666

Afren afr bounced off both the 25 day EMA and also the floor of an uptrend channel that as been in place since March/April 2009. Targets are shown on the chart, looks like its got a lot going for it especially with high Oil prices here to stay.

goldfinger - 30 Sep 2009 00:39 - 374 of 3666

NB, flower should read floor.........petal.

cynic - 30 Sep 2009 07:48 - 375 of 3666

Stupid boy, Pike!

goldfinger - 30 Sep 2009 08:11 - 376 of 3666

Long day at the office cyners and have a big day or two getting the gardens ready before the winter sets in........I detest it but Im too skinny to pay for a gardner.

Good start for AFR.

cynic - 30 Sep 2009 08:13 - 377 of 3666
