How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Fundamentalist - 21 Jun 2005 18:36 - 3611 of 10502

nadal a break up

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:54 - 3612 of 10502

Nadal wins first set.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:56 - 3613 of 10502

Jumped in at 2.06 on Grosjean as he was losing the first set. Much too early but I was going for my tea. Could have got him at more than 3's.

He;s now 1.44 to lay having won the second set. Should green up but I'll wait for a while I think.

Piptrader - 21 Jun 2005 18:58 - 3614 of 10502

"Should green up..."

Discipline, Harlosh, discipline :-))

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:59 - 3615 of 10502

Yes I know Pip. I'm trying, really trying but the thrill of the chase is winning at the moment.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 18:59 - 3616 of 10502

Now 1.28. Sometimes it pays.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 19:01 - 3617 of 10502

I've got to nip out to see my old man on his birthday so I've greened up. (liar)

Piptrader - 21 Jun 2005 19:02 - 3618 of 10502

I know the feeling only too well. I've doubled and halved my account a couple of times doing just that!

bakko - 21 Jun 2005 19:04 - 3619 of 10502

Evening All,

Just back from work and managed to trade out of my losing lay off on Nadal.
Grosjean game seems interesting so will take a look at that too.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 19:06 - 3620 of 10502

Evening Bak,

You may have missed the best of it unless Grosjean fails to get his finger out.

Harlosh - 21 Jun 2005 19:10 - 3621 of 10502

Bloody hell he's making hard work of this game.

bakko - 21 Jun 2005 19:17 - 3622 of 10502

Not much liquidity in this Grosjean game.

Fundamentalist - 21 Jun 2005 19:28 - 3623 of 10502

Serena williams in trouble, lost first set and 4-4 in second (having been a break up)

Kayak - 21 Jun 2005 19:30 - 3624 of 10502

If anyone is trading Big Brother, know that the production team are as leaky as a sieve this year. Any movements before an announcement is due are to be followed!

Fundamentalist - 21 Jun 2005 19:43 - 3625 of 10502

Kayak

have noticed that - it appears that nominations are known in advance and also who is being evicted in the couple of days before it happens - both the two who have been evicted in the last two weeks were priced approx 2.0 when the nominations were announced and about 1.2 just before the eviction occurred

Fundamentalist - 21 Jun 2005 19:45 - 3626 of 10502

williams back to 1 set all though looks as though she may have picked up an injury (not too serious i dont think) but be wary if backing

Fundamentalist - 21 Jun 2005 20:11 - 3627 of 10502

Just realised the cricket was also on today

England made 391-4 off 50 overs vs bangladesh and Pieterson didnt even at lol

Scripophilist - 21 Jun 2005 20:43 - 3628 of 10502

Grosjean game has been another great one to trade. Volume hasn't been bad I thought, much less than Timmy but its moved from 190k to 1.1m in the time I have been on it.

Scripophilist - 21 Jun 2005 20:57 - 3629 of 10502

Cracking match!
