Hilary
Noticed that rpaco has chosen to open a long position OYS in the trading game. Oystertec is currently an AIM listed company, and as such is not eligble to be included in this FTSE trading game as per the rules above.
Hope you had a good weekend.

I think it's OK, Andy. In the past I've put AIM shares in and the rule was roughly along the lines of 'if it's got an EPIC, it's OK'. So OFEX would not be eligible, for instance, but AIM ones would.

We have used AIM shares on previous games.
However i am short on PRC at present and wouldn't mind that trade canceling Hil........

Hi Vasey... that's not what it says in GD's rules... but what the hell.. it's only a game!! I've got enough OYS shares in the real world anyway!! If I had known about the Heathrow seminar I would have gone along.. how was it? I heard about Tom H's wild DOW prediction: 10,000 by June!! We'll see...
Still no sign of GD?

Croc,
You're in.
23 of the 24 places in the game are now being utilised. If Pear Shaped had posted earlier yesterday, I would've entered him into the game. As it is, I've got calfy, Olddog/Bolddog and Pear Shaped who have all indicated that they want to play but have not stated any trades. One of those 3 may still play if they wish although they're too late for this week. The first one of the 3 to enter their trade(s) for next week after 4:30pm on Friday will be included and, I'm afraid, the other two will miss out. At least, that way, the game will then be fully utilised.
Andy,
I understand what you're saying and it was an unfortunate choice of words by GD, imo. As far as I'm concerned, AIM shares are allowed and OFEX aren't. I simply need to be able to readily access a bid and offer price.
8 ball,
It'll have to wait until next week now, I'm afraid. Can you re-post please next weekend?
I'll let Jeff have an updated table today and hope to upload it later.

andy: You've got me on that one! Most of us didn't read the pooch's rules very carefully - just went with the ones we liked and waited till he growled at us!
Heathrow was interesting. Mike Boydell and David Jones gave excellent presentations, especially given their restricted time slots and Tim Freeborn and Tom Hougaard had interesting points in their turns too. MightyMicro had brough along some wizardry for us all to play with and the phone looked very interesting and quite tempting. But we may have to wait a bit for that.
Shame we didn't meet up. Sounds like the game has re-started with a vengeance - so we may have to work hard to take on all these guys. I thought we had enough exposure to GSk through your trades - so opted for a different sector.

I've uploaded the game taking into account the weekend changes and it's with thanks to Jeffmack again for converting my file.
The table can be viewed
by clicking here.
Jeroo slips out of the No. 1 slot because of a killer spread on one of his new picks, so Gdub hogs the leader board. Will it last???????
I had an anomoly with the opening price of one of Croc's picks. Fingers crossed, I seem to have ironed out a couple of little glitches in the spreadsheet, but could everyone please check their trades to check that I've got it right?

croc,
Your question is easy to address.
The BBY Friday closing offer was 170.5 rather than 169.25 as indicated within your post 360.
little woman,
I'll look back through my files and get back to you if that's ok.

little woman,
You held 55172 KCOM shares. You opened the position at 36.25p and closed it at 38.5 realising a profit on the trade of 1,241.37. Your banked P/L on Friday evening before closing the KCOM trade was a loss of 1,735.46, and so the KCOM profit reduced this loss to 531.91 which is where it currently stands.
Does that answer your question satisfactorily?

Thanks hilary took my figures from Am and also GNI has 168.25 mid at close but can not see the spread on there
But please use your own numbers

I've just had another look at it, croc. It appears that am use the auction orders when they show their closing bid & offer whereas it's conventional practise to show the closing bid & offer at touch pre-auction.

little woman,
The cell entitled "Banked P/L" contains the sum of the profit or loss from all of the trades which you have opened and closed previously. When I close a trade, I transfer your profit or loss from that trade into the "Banked P/L" cell. Your KCOM trade was closed at a profit of 1,241.37 and this profit was added to your "Banked P/L" cell. Your new BARC trade was opened using the then available funds which equal the difference between the total cost of your current open positions and your worth.
Your "Banked P/L" cell is currently showing the following values:
-2457.39+1785.49-1101.38+1241.37 and equals your loss of 531.91
The first loss of 2,457.39 represents your losses from before GoldDog went awol and when he was looking after things. The subsequent figures represent your profits and losses since I have been looking after the game.
Is that any clearer?

little woman,
Presumably you're referring to the partial closure of your BARC position to fund the opening of the KCOM position??
I've already realised for you the profit from when they were partially closed.
From post 295 on this thread:
littlewoman
Close 4638 BARC @ 378 plus existing funds allows a new trade of
Long 55172 KCOM @ 36.25 = 19,999.85
Those 4638 BARC shares realised a profit of 14.75p each or a total of 684.11. This is represented by the difference between the middle two figures in post 377 of 1,785.49 and 1,101.38. For my own convenience, I closed the whole position (1,785.49 profit) and then re-opened the smaller position at the same opening price writing the figures back. It's just the way that I chose to do it at the time which might make it appear confusing, but it is correct.
