MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Lack of news on the Share front following the analyst's meeting doesn't mean the scientsits have stopped working! I am sure that after the positive news of the last few weeks that further news will follow but I think that the momentum will inevitably slow as the research and development continues. You can't expect a ride like the last few weeks to continue at such a pace forever. I hold MMG, and will continue to hold, but the last thing we surely want is for MMG to become the next BPRG with all the associated problems of shorters, traders and unreasonably high expectations.

Absolutely no disresepct to any posters - I'm sure we've all got the same long term aim - to make some serious money from this one.

Plenty of positive Broker notes out BP.

cheers GF.

Evaluation results are due out in March and if positive then I see a big rise in the sp.

doughboy66 - 18 Feb 2005 16:55 - 372 of 2444

Why such a wide spread from the brokers ?
I have joined you and Goldfinger in this one and from your comments i`m quite excited about the long term prospects of these.Having said that it doesn`t take a lot for me to get excited must be my age.

Been in on MMG since last March and nearly got out last month, thank God I didn't!!!

mickeyskint - 18 Feb 2005 17:08 - 376 of 2444

Sticking with it was one of those gut feels but helped by Mitzy's confidence on here. Also recently took a gamble with ASM on Cancer therapy as it will fly given any encouragement, its that kind of share. I may get out with profit if that happens to ASM, However I feel MMG has a fantastic portfolio and I will be staying long-term. You can also bet your life the likes of AstraZeneca and Glaxos are keeping a beady eye on MMG.

mitzy - 18 Feb 2005 20:23 - 378 of 2444

Hopefully some coverage in Sundays papers...I understand..

Spot on Andy with the comparison of Glaxo/Astra...MMG have more drugs in trials.

doughboy66 - 18 Feb 2005 20:43 - 379 of 2444

I was looking back at the historical share price of MMG and unless i have misread it or its a misprint these shares went down as low as 4p on 11-04-03 ,why was that?

mitzy - 18 Feb 2005 21:17 - 380 of 2444

Thats correct 66....they moved from Ofex onto the Aim just after the tech bubble burst and from 60p they rose to 150p and then crashed to 4p.The market valued them at their cash value ie 4p like other stocks at the time with no value going forward.

goldfinger - 18 Feb 2005 23:47 - 381 of 2444

But theres plenty of value going forward now.

cheers GF.

mitzy - 19 Feb 2005 10:10 - 382 of 2444

Thats right gf and short term and long term this one could multi-bag from here to 400p or 500p as Nomura have indicated as the potential is fantastic.. roll on March..

doughboy66 - 19 Feb 2005 10:15 - 383 of 2444

Wow that would be fantastic to hit those sort of prices. If they do i will be the first to buy you and Goldfinger a drink.
Cheers DB66
