Evening all.... Has anyone been watching /Yen today? After Hilary's ex. post yest. have taken an initial short with small stake and wide stop, may be jumping the gun but prepaired to give it a try, looks to have topped and MACD rolling over.

chocolat - 09 Mar 2005 22:04 - 3655 of 11056

$/CAD is not a pretty sight - but there are some lovely movements in there, using 1 minute chart. :)

hodgins - 09 Mar 2005 22:08 - 3656 of 11056

GBP/JPY turned yet? Still waiting to take a position.

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 08:41 - 3661 of 11056

hilary.that stg/yen pair works pretty well intraday as well i trade gbp/nzd as a pair with cable, but intrest rates on both dont always give the vol,iam looking for,but had a good few out of stgyen intraday ..past 24hr..seems to be a good pair to trade alongside cable..
cheers\mos..

hilary - 10 Mar 2005 09:22 - 3662 of 11056

I think that yesterday's GBP/JPY intraday volatility was the exception rather than the rule (as a result of the 9:30 trade balance). Nice clear signals which held. Normally the intraday signals are a lottery and it can whip like mad.

Maggot - 10 Mar 2005 09:31 - 3663 of 11056

Caught out by that nasty spike down on Cable at 9am, which hit my stop. Still looks as if it will go up, though. Think I will wait for a break above 310.

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 09:48 - 3664 of 11056

yep hils got an intra day long @ 220 and watching accordingly...

chocolat - 10 Mar 2005 10:09 - 3665 of 11056

So Koizumi gave dollar sellers a boost overnight by suggesting that Japan needs to diversify reserves...vice finance minister Hosokawa is trying to repair the damage this morning by saying there are no plans now to change the composition of the reserves. Some uncertainty on the future path of Japan's reserves then...BoJ intervention to follow for month end?
BoK intervened today buying $s, so there's a chance that some of those will find a home elsewhere. :)

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 10:33 - 3666 of 11056

out of stgyen@ 201.00 + 80 pips..cheers hils......

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 14:30 - 3667 of 11056

[14:46 GBP/JPY TECHS: Needs To Close Under 200.00 For A Reversal] New York,
March 10th: GBP/JPY prices broke below the ridge of daily lows near 200.00
yesterday, but there was not enough sustained selling interest to close the NY
session below that key support, thus the daily uptrend has not yet been fully
reversed. There is, however, a pending double-top near 202.00 and daily studies
have begun to point down, so the burden of proof is now solidly on the bulls.
For the first time since mid-January, the 10-day MA has started to trend lower
again and daily Bollinger bands are contracting, suggesting congestion if not an
outright reversal of the medium-term uptrend. Another failure into the 202.00
resistance area would be fresh sell signal, as would a daily close below 200.00.
The o/n rally to 201.20 looked like a failed attempt to retake the medium-term
uptrend line, which is now acting as resistance at 201.45. Hourly studies are
bearish, so there may not be another attempt at that trendline today.

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 15:06 - 3669 of 11056

hils cheers

hilary - 10 Mar 2005 15:12 - 3670 of 11056

I personally disagree slightly with their analysis on the reversal and believe that a lot of bull stops will have been taken out yesterday at around the 201 level. I also believe that there will have been heavy selling into the rallies today.

mostrader - 10 Mar 2005 15:14 - 3671 of 11056

yep i only took profit cause it was a nice round number to be honest hils hold my hands up was pure luck entry and exit but had my hands full with cable and eurusd....
