Munnie - 06 Jan 2004 09:27 - 3659 of 23498

Desperate for Tech help !!!

I cannot get into ADVFN at all from home, yet no problem if I visit local libary.

This first happend last weekend. Thought ADVFN were banning me, but I phoned them and they seem happy, telling me to delete all kinds of stuff like cookies and temp files.... but Still no joy.

I get 'opening page at ADVFN'... then 'Done' .... but just blank screen.

Also I find some cookies CANNOT be deleted, esp microsoft ones and some advfn ones.

Anybody around who can help ? Thanks...

snoball - 06 Jan 2004 09:48 - 3660 of 23498

Munnie,
It could be a problem with your ISP. The library will be on broadband I should expect. Are you on broadband at home? It may also be a security setting in your browser - or your firewall, if you have one.
I don't go there much these days so don't have to deal with those problems any more.

Pass the champagne and some of those scrambled eggs and smoked salmon please.
Yum!

Bullshare - 06 Jan 2004 09:51 - 3661 of 23498

Munnie; simple solution is just use us(MoneyAM)!

Munnie - 06 Jan 2004 10:04 - 3662 of 23498

Yes I will be using MoneyAM more, but then I have valuable friends on ADVFN too !

Checked security etc, have broadband, the thing that puzzles me is cookies that CANNOT be deleted... might be the problem.

8 ball
Not getting to see Millwall much so far this season, but will get to a game or two before the season finishes

T.I.M.
Liked the Dennis joke.

Hello to all

little woman - 06 Jan 2004 11:48 - 3664 of 23498

Oh well, one of my shares in the game is currently being hammered! Looks like I'll be slipping down a bit!

snoball - 06 Jan 2004 11:55 - 3665 of 23498

Something has affected my position as well. Little Woman.
Trouble is I can't remember which shares I chose!
Boots was one I think. Retail sector is suffering. I bet that's the problem.
Back to my charts.

little woman - 06 Jan 2004 12:14 - 3666 of 23498

Snoball, the trouble with charts is they don't factor in good or bad news (or figures)!

jeffmack - 06 Jan 2004 13:02 - 3667 of 23498

Little woman
Not entirely true. A chart can easily identify an upcoming news event as news always leaks out to those in the know.

snoball - 06 Jan 2004 14:04 - 3668 of 23498

LW, charts are good for watching which direction price is going.
Here we go, the old ta/fundamental argument!

little woman - 06 Jan 2004 14:19 - 3669 of 23498

I use charts, but at the moment with a market as volatile as it is, it tends to work out if I think it has peaked or hit bottom. I don't think that's what they are supposed to be for, but it does seem to work for me!

stockbunny - 06 Jan 2004 16:00 - 3670 of 23498

Afternoon All,
Congratulations Little Woman!! Heading the league again I see,
still the three of us in the top 5, although I'm heading downwards
bit by bit and may drop off the end - someone better catch me if I do!
As you said a Croc. surrounded...Hmmm...Handbags, shoes....
Goodness don't know where that thought came from! (he-he)

OK Cab Sauv' for me and whatever you're having yourself.....

jeffmack - 06 Jan 2004 18:14 - 3671 of 23498

Socs
I'm coming up for the racing in March and am looking for a hotel for 3 nights, 16th/17th/18th. Cant find any vacancies on the web, any ideas?

Does anyone know of a site that will do the searching for me?

Socrates - 06 Jan 2004 18:28 - 3672 of 23498

Jeffmack
The place is always packed during Cheltenham Festival time but the Information Centre can usually help. If you can't get anything on-line, give them a call.
