required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

I don't think that English or British football is a sick as we think.....it needs tweaking in the sense that there are quite a few aspects of the game that need attending to.....let's take the example of freekicks...now all we ever see is Gerrard or Rooney stepping back to take it...what happens ?....it goes way over the crossbar as usual....it's the same at every tournament....where has flair and movement got to ?....how about a passing move round the back of the wall....all sorts of variations can be practised on the training ground behing closed doors....it was the same in the so-called Beckham era...(great player...a tad overrated)...it would take five to ten freekicks to get a goal....if not more...too much reliance on one player !...the FA and clubs should look at the possibility of players that are picked on a regular basis clubbing together to spend a day or so sorting out this problem in between international calls, during the week ......the game or British game needs very strong minded players that crave international success so much...they have to want it....I hate it when I see players that have made a mistake during a game : laugh at it because they have got away with it...I want them to be angry with themselves and make a grim face.....if you want to win a trophy : you have to want it like nothing else !....I hope Gerrard carries on as a player for the squad at least for another couple of years anyway....his midfield play will have to improve as well as the rest of the team....I never thought that Sir Bobby Robson's idea (for all his great managerial qualities) was very inspired in retiring Keegan and Brooking early.....that was crazy !....Gerrard can help mature the new generation of players that are emerging in the England camp,....defensively England were not up to it with players looking at each other instead of knowing without looking where the other is....all these matters and many more need looking at....but it's more of a tweaking then a revolution that is necessary in order to bring the England team up to scratch with the better teams of this last wonderful world cup.....best regard all....

Please take your handbags elsewhere - neither of your teams will be above Chelsea, Arsenal or even Tottenham and in an area where it will realy hurt - Liverpool who have bought wisely.

A mix of best guess reporting and click bait. Thankfully, this year the journos are being told very little, if anything.

Cheers,

Louis van Gaal’s first act has been to hand over more than £1million to charity.

The former Holland coach did not use an agent for his £12million move to Old Trafford – saving the club a massive fee.

Instead the 62-year-old, who steered the Dutch side to third place in the World Cup, asked United to donate the cash to his favourite cause.

It will go to Muscles for Muscles, a Dutch charity that raises awareness for spinal muscular atrophy.
